message 1: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Wow, this book was amazing. Potentially my favorite Stormlight book yet. I finished it a week ago and am curious about what others think.

message 2: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth Geary (KagedBooks) (kagedbooks) | 118 comments I enjoyed it, but WoR is still at the top for me. This felt more like a setup novel for book 5.

message 3: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Yes, I felt that too, but some of the pieces such as Wit and Jasnah, Kaladin battling the Pursuer, and learning more about fabrials, made the book for me.

message 4: by Luis (new)

Luis Santos (luiggiesan) | 2 comments It’s tough for me to say one book is better than the other because the enjoyment of one is built upon the groundwork of previous books. That said, RoW was outstanding. The emotional highs and lows was very prevalent. The high like Kaladin’s fourth ideal and the low of Teft (why Sanderson, why?!?!?). Then you have the unforgettable moments like “journey before destination, you bastard” and the new Odium. I’m at awe at how much I love this series. I just cannot wait for book 5.

message 5: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments I agree in the sense that choosing one is so hard with the scale of creativity in all of the books in mind. That said, RoW shed light on a lot of other moments too, such as about the heralds, the ghostbloods, shadesmare, and the recreance. Not to mention, Adolin finally revived his blade!

message 6: by Jianfeng (new)

Jianfeng Du | 1 comments RoW reminds me of the greatest Christmas movie ever, Die Hard.

message 7: by Strzelba (new)

Strzelba | 3 comments WoR is still my favorite SA book, but Rhythm of War was amazing, the best book I’d read since Oathbringer. I’m looking forward to reread it when it’ll be translated to polish language in few months.

message 8: by Sylvin (new)

Sylvin Aldrian (sylvinal) | 7 comments As a scientist I really liked and appreciated all of Navani's chapters in this book, even if I don't like Navani herself as much as other characters. It's amazing how he is incorporating science to SA. To me this book is the best with WoK to which I have a special attachment

message 9: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Now that we have a little more information about the Ghost Bloods, what do you all think Kelsier is really working towards?

message 10: by Peter (new)

Peter | 21 comments He obviously works on getting back to physical body and then world hopping. I'm seriously worried that he's going to be villain. Not as twisted as Moash though, there's no way he could reach that level.

message 11: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Yeah, I think there's a definite chance that he will become a villain. I'm trying to decide if he's just hijacking the Ghost Bloods to get what he wants, if he actually just wants trade between worlds, or if the trade idea is just a cover up for lesser members.

message 12: by Emma (new)

Emma I'd suggest the semi-recent Shardcast episode on Kelsier, if you're interested in that. It has some really interesting theories in it. (It's titled Lord of Scars, I believe).

message 13: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Yes. He was talking about doing that in Shinnovar right?

message 14: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Fair enough

message 15: by Alabaster (new)

Alabaster | 9 comments Just a prediction, but re-reading book 1 the epigraph: "I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw.", gave me the idea that Odium's eventual champion will be Gavinor Kholin

message 16: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments How would that work though? Gavinor is still just a child and the battle takes place in ten days time. So they would have to postpone the date.

message 17: by Alabaster (new)

Alabaster | 9 comments I haven't a clue about the logistics, but it seems a very taravangian/odium thing to do

message 18: by Alabaster (new)

Alabaster | 9 comments As I said, I don't know exactly how it would work, but I feel like the epigraphs should be tying into the story somehow, and that's the only real application of that specific epigraph (that we know of yet).

message 19: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Alabaster wrote: "As I said, I don't know exactly how it would work, but I feel like the epigraphs should be tying into the story somehow, and that's the only real application of that specific epigraph (that we know..."

Yes, they definitely hold importance. It would definitely be a Sanderon thing to do as well. But I think the only way that would happen is if they postponed the challenge somehow.
There's also the musings of El that I'm curious about.

message 20: by Pål (last edited Mar 15, 2021 02:29AM) (new)

Pål (plbreienabrahamsen) | 30 comments I think it will be a less conspicuous solution than Gavinor. Mr. Sanderson knows his story twists, but it’s all connected 👌

message 21: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments I think I agree.
Now that Maya is revived, what do we think Adolin's nature will be as a radiant?

message 22: by Pål (new)

Pål (plbreienabrahamsen) | 30 comments Not completly sure he will be a regular radiant, but I think he and Mayalaran will be important in Shadesmar from here on.

message 23: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Agreed. I'm wondering if she'll have to go back to a cultivation spren city. If no then I think she'll stay with Adolin, and maybe he'll get a single surge.

message 24: by Pål (new)

Pål (plbreienabrahamsen) | 30 comments In any event, my quess is that they will stay mostly together and continue developing their relation/bond. I’m getting the (small WoT spoiler) Androl-Pevara feeling from them.

message 25: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments I've only read through the sixth of WoT. So I don't know what all that infers to.

message 26: by Pål (new)

Pål (plbreienabrahamsen) | 30 comments Then you are in for a treat, Brandon finished the series in a fantastic way! What I mean is that the bond between Adolin and Maya might evolve in new ways and make new things possible.

message 27: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments I'll have to get to it soon. I had to take a break but I should be able to get to it now.

message 28: by Pål (new)

Pål (plbreienabrahamsen) | 30 comments The Wheel of Time ;)

message 29: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) | 109 comments Authors really do like to chose long names for books.
The Wheel of Time is a great series. It's 14 books long, and the author of the first 11 and a half were done by Robert Jordan, but he passed away so Sanderson wrote the last two and a half.

message 30: by Pål (new)

Pål (plbreienabrahamsen) | 30 comments It’s even 15 books if you count the prequel ;) There is a lull around book 9 and espesially book 10, but Jordan is back on track on book 11. Lots of fun readalong podcasts for the series.

message 31: by Alabaster (new)

Alabaster | 9 comments Speaking of WoT, weren't there talks abut having Sanderson finish GoT if Martin died? Not sure if i heard right/if anything came out of that though.
