Ozun | 4 comments Let’s say a book has black n white cover and also about my dream job. Can I check 2 boxes with one book?

Drakeryn | 708 comments I don't think there's an official ruling on that. The official site doesn't say either way, though it mentions "50 books" so you could argue they're thinking about separate books.

A lot of people in this group are very prolific readers so they challenge themselves to read all different books. I'm less prolific; I'd like to read all different books, but if that doesn't pan out (which it didn't this year) I'll at least try and cover all the prompts. Basically you can do what works for you.

Eric | 11 comments I agree - it's about what works for you. For 2020, I did the Read Harder Challenge. I decided not to "double dip" (I didn't use the same book for two prompts), but I did move books from one prompt to another.

I remember doing this for a food-related prompt and a climate change prompt. While reading the food-related book, I realized it discussed the effects of climate change on food trends. I ended up using that book for my climate change prompt and then read another food-related book for the food prompt. In doing that, I still learned a lot about both food and climate change.

Nicole | 97 comments Honestly, you can do whatever you want!

I feel like these challenges are like loose guidelines not strict rules. They might help you read more, or more diverse or discover new genres, but in the end there is no right or wrong as long as you enjoy the reading and doing the challenge.

I still work full-time and workout 10+ hours per week so I have limited reading time and always make books count for as many prompts as possible! This year I ended up reading way more than usual due to COVID-19, so will probably end up with 50 different books to fulfill this year's challenge but I bet next year I'll be counting one book for multiple prompts at the end of the year. My philosophy is, it is your challenge. Just have fun!

Ozun | 4 comments Thank you all for your answers. With the volume of my tbr shelves (over 70 books), working full time and probably starting a masters program next year, I don’t think I’ll be able to read 50 books but I like this challenge as it almost forces to read more diverse books. I’ll have my own challenge and Popsugar’s on the side for some inspiration.

She loves to read | 13 comments I also handle it that way, that I only check one prompt with one book, but I sometimes use one book for a prompt of another challenge.

In my opinion, it's also great if one can say they have read 25 books at the and of the year and therefore checked 25 of 50 boxes. It isn't any less of an achievement. So I think there is no need to use a single book for multiple prompts. :)

Leona (mnleona) | 244 comments I sometimes use one book for two prompts. It is totally up to you.
