A lot of people in this group are very prolific readers so they challenge themselves to read all different books. I'm less prolific; I'd like to read all different books, but if that doesn't pan out (which it didn't this year) I'll at least try and cover all the prompts. Basically you can do what works for you.

I remember doing this for a food-related prompt and a climate change prompt. While reading the food-related book, I realized it discussed the effects of climate change on food trends. I ended up using that book for my climate change prompt and then read another food-related book for the food prompt. In doing that, I still learned a lot about both food and climate change.

I feel like these challenges are like loose guidelines not strict rules. They might help you read more, or more diverse or discover new genres, but in the end there is no right or wrong as long as you enjoy the reading and doing the challenge.
I still work full-time and workout 10+ hours per week so I have limited reading time and always make books count for as many prompts as possible! This year I ended up reading way more than usual due to COVID-19, so will probably end up with 50 different books to fulfill this year's challenge but I bet next year I'll be counting one book for multiple prompts at the end of the year. My philosophy is, it is your challenge. Just have fun!

In my opinion, it's also great if one can say they have read 25 books at the and of the year and therefore checked 25 of 50 boxes. It isn't any less of an achievement. So I think there is no need to use a single book for multiple prompts. :)
