S. Kaeth (skaeth) | 6 comments IndieStoryGeek.com is designed to help readers find great indie books they'll enjoy. We have nearly 500 books listed already, and are looking especially for more readers and reviewers who want to add to the site. (Authors are always welcome, of course, but more reviews will be helpful for more readers, helping everyone!)

To use as a reviewer, you sign up for an account, and then you start reviewing books (all small press, self-pub, or web serials are allowed)! Type in the title or author (right now, author works better for searching accurately) into the search bar to see if it's already there. If the story's not already listed, click "Suggest A Story" to add it. Once you fill that out, it'll send an email to mods to check for accuracy, and then once it's approved, you can review it.

Our review system is different than ones you're probably used to, and that's one of the main features of IndieStoryGeek. Using sliders, you'll quickly categorize the book on its Worldbuilding, Plot, Characters, Storytelling, Immersion, Emotional Response, Thought Provoking, and Cover. There's no wrong or bad responses here--it just helps readers find something they're in the mood for (you don't always want a heavy, gripping, immersive novel, for instance--sometimes you want to break it up a bit with something lighter).

You can link back to a full review on your own website too, or on Goodreads, etc. Links to Goodreads and Amazon help the reader see the overall star-rating of the book and, of course, buy if interested. Then just press Save and it goes live! It's very quick and easy to review, and it will generate a "story shape" from the slider positions for the various categories. This visual aspect will help readers look for the specific story shape they're in the mood for.

And if you're doing a lot of reviews or reviews on a regular basis, you can sign up to be a Book Blogger associated with IndieStoryGeek--what that means is that you continue to do reviews like normal, with IndieStoryGeek reviews as well, and you get a listing on the Book Blogger page, which points back to your site for all to see. Authors get the option to upload their books for Book Bloggers to read and review, too, so that option pops up for verified Book Bloggers.
