Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Carol: very interesting! We haven't had a short story book as a group read that I can recall. One by James McBride would likely be very good, and probably fit the "one discussion thread" format.

KJreads | 1 comments Can consider “in my dreams I hold a knife” by Ashley winstead? A debut author and the book is so good!

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments As we think about potential Group Read ( or solo read ) books, here are some best of 2021 recommendations from PBS, introduced by some favorite authors.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Ooh! By introduced I didn't know you meant recommended! (duh) Favorite authors indeed! I see a few I want to put on my weary TBR list. How about the Scandinavian one as a group read?

message 61: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Carol: I should have said recommended! They all look tempting, and I agree a group read of The Girl Who Died would be terrific! As for a weary tbr list, mine is extremely weary!

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Carol, I was surprised to get on the hold list in the first slot for The Girl Who Died by Ragnar Jónasson so it looks like a group read works for me!
Does December or January work better for you?
Edited: I am thinking December after realizing I just got my turn for The Other Black Girl!

Ann, be careful what you wish for! (by "you" I mean "me"!) I have Arsenic and Adobo and Pickard County Atlas waiting for me at the library! Yikes! The Girl Who Died is in transit with me as number 1, so I'm betting it will also be there waiting when I go in on Saturday to pick them up. I'm happy to put The Girl Who Died on for December if others are interested in reading it!

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Carol: I have delayed my turn once on Overdrive for The Girl Who Died, so should be able to group read it in December. (Audio) . I'm trying to stop requesting more so I can read what I am already juggling. (Trying, not succeeding, lol)
