Samantha (scookie) | 46 comments I'm currently accepting review copies, I'm just not actively finding them. Please apply here: https://www.scookiereviews.co.uk/subm...

ORIGINAL POST:
Hi everyone. I'm a YouTube book reviewer looking to make videos on YA indie books. Please share your books below if you're interested. All reviews will be 3+ stars (or I'll pass) as I want to be positive.

Before you post, please take a look at the channel and see whether your book is a good fit. Do you like my style of review? I mainly read fantasy, dystopian, and paranormal.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZay...

A massive thanks to anyone who subscribes. If I can reach more readers, the reviews will be more useful so please do share and subscribe if you're interested. It's not a requirement, just super helpful. :)

Written reviews will also be posted on Goodreads.

Cheers!

Edit: There's no fee (and never should be for a review), but I do ask authors to provide a gratis copy of their book.

The channel is Scookie Reviews, and there's a link on my profile that should work.

Victoria Liiv (victorialiiv) | 44 comments Hii,

I would love it if you could consider reviewing my book:

Through Hell & Highwater is YA fantasy story. A story of how saving the Earth brings together a Shifter, two Vampires, Werewolves, an Elf, Half-Fae, a Wizard and an Orc. When the world is slowly turning into chaos the students are trying to find a way back. Back to what is safe and secure. But in order to do that, the students have to go through hell first.

“Did I say something wrong?” she whispered to Dylan, falling back to be able to walk next to the wolf instead.
“You are doing great, darling,” he replied with a grin. “Beautifully, if embarrassment is what you are aiming towards, I mean. It would be quite amusing, if I wasn’t afraid for our lives.

When I first started telling my friends about it they immediately compared it to Harry Potter (as there is a magic school involved) and Lord of the Rings (mostly because of the orc). Yes, I might have been influenced from both of those books while writing the story, but I’d like to think it turned out to be an individual story.

I recently wrote LGBTQ+ YA Fantasy Novel called The Sigil: A Novel
Here's the link to it...
You can e-mail me if you're interested in reviewing it at : shakeilkanish@gmail.com

The Sigil: A Novel - Part I

And Summary:
Lake’s brother Devlin was murdered right in front of him. Simply because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Why, then, does Lake think Devlin knew he was going to die before they ever set foot in the gas station that night? As he obsesses over his brother’s death, Lake begins to uncover a hidden world full of forbidden magic and growing danger. Now he’s stuck, caught between the world that his brother was meant for and his own. Lake is beginning to realize that no one and nowhere is safe.

Nova Rathers may not be especially powerful in the Mage world but she makes up for it with a magical bag of snacks and a body constructed by the Gods to slay. Desperate to be more than her lineage, she finds herself teamed up with a group of misfits and, in her mind, the weakest creature of all - a gida...a powerless human. Together, they start to unravel the lies that built their world and continue to hold it hostage. Nova’s last year at Breyburn Academe was never going to be easy but she had no idea that it could ever get this bad.

Lake, Nova, and their newfound friends are about to find the truth behind what has been hunting them. But knowing is only half the battle. Even if they survive, will the rest of the world remain standing?

Samuel Yaw (yawjianfong) | 27 comments Would you like to check out some sci-fi?

Hajogana

When Hâjogana was young, he aspired to be a governor of one of the colonies of the Konjor Supercorporation, making a difference in a vicious Galaxy with his benevolence.

As he grew up, he was given over to the Gaantegeu army in exchange for several prisoners. As one of the officers of one of the Galaxy’s greatest armies, he fought so well that he became one of its best fighter aces, renowned throughout the Galaxy’s realms. But out of a sudden, he was transferred back into his Supercorporation: firstly under the tenure of a vicious entrepreneur, and then under the direct authority of the sadistic governor Vannikon.

The Supercorporation has left him at the fleeting mercy of his tests and his abusive superiors. If he overcomes them, he will become the next Governor; but if he loses, he might face a cruel and excruciating death. Will he pass his coming tests and make it out alive?

Scott Coon | 66 comments Thank you so much for offering this! And I love your channel already! I will be watching more.

I believe LOST HELIX would fit your YouTube Channel perfectly:

Stuck on an asteroid mining facility, DJ dreams of writing music. But when his dad goes missing, he finds a file containing evidence of a secret war of industrial sabotage, a file encrypted by his dad using DJ's song Lost Helix. Caught in a crossfire of lies, DJ must find his father and the mother he never knew before company agents find him.

LOST HELIX is available in paperback or eBook anywhere books are sold. And the best part: my name is easier than "Shusterman".

S.D. Howard (sdhoward) | 7 comments Hi Samantha!

My debut novel just came out on Monday is on sale for $0.99 on Amazon ( https://amzn.to/2K0RmBU). I can also provide a free digital copy as well depending on how you generally do it :)

Let me know when you have the chance :D

Here is the summary:
“I won’t do it. Never.”

Trinia’s Gift is the ability to duplicate herself perfectly in mind and body yet, every time she uses it, she feels like she loses another piece of her soul. Her abusive and power-hungry father, Caderyn, wishes to exploit her gift to create an army that obeys his command and rebuild the Airgíd Empire that fell a thousand years before.

Going on the run, Trinia seeks out the aid of the kingdoms that destroyed her people. When things don’t go as planned, she’s forced into trusting a failed mage, a man of legend with a vendetta, and a talking wolf to help her reach her goal by making a promise she isn’t sure she can keep.

As she wrestles with the ghosts of her past trauma and new ones that keep piling up, Trinia begins to wonder where the justice is in it all, and whether she has what it takes to stop her father and save her people.

“Never say never, daughter. For never has a way of finding its way to fruition.”

The City of Snow & Stars, book one of the Cities of Wintenaeth series.

Samantha (scookie) | 46 comments Regina wrote: "Do you charge for this?"

Hi there, thanks for asking.

No, I don't charge for this, and no, I don't make any money from it either. As it's a 0 budget production, this means I rely on authors to provide me with review copies.

In return, I hope that you will be able to subscribe to the channel and help me grow - like some of the videos, share them on social media, and generally help them reach more readers. This isn't a requirement, just something that would be nice.

I'm mostly doing this to improve my confidence and presenting skills, and also to learn video editing. So far it's been really fun, although quite time consuming.

Please also bear in mind that I'm on person and can't say yes to every book, especially if it doesn't happen to match my random tastes. I might take a week or two to get back to you as I've posted the ad a couple of places.

I also reserve the right to not make a video if I don't enjoy the book. I only want to focus on positive content so if I can't recommend the current version, I'll have to pass.

I've just finished filming the first indie book review! Can't wait to share it in the new year.

Would you be interested in reading and reviewing my literary fiction / YA novella Look for me Under the Rainbow 🌈🕊?

It has also a trailer which you can see here 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzMLu...

Kevin Albin | 36 comments Hi Samantha,

Interesting videos, and a great idea.

My book, Stonechild

Where do we go to when we die? Imagine human consciousness embedded in the molecules of a statue. So, when the statues of London come to life, it is a spectacle like non other, and they come with a specific message, and an offer we cannot refuse.
As the world reels in this wonder of science and religion, Molly Hargreaves has other plans and she sets out to prove that things are not as they seem. Chased, captured and confined, Molly confronts the statues and her own fears. But who can she convince? The people are welcoming, the Government has succumbed, and the police try to act, but how do you shoot stone and metal? Be prepared to be run ragged around London on a mystery worthy of the great Sherlock Holmes.

Thanks. Kevin

No, no fee.

I ask for the authors to provide the review copies as gratis. Paperbacks will be prioritised as it gives me something to hold up in the video, and I can comment on the overall quality of the finish product too.

However, I'm only looking to make positive reviews. I will also give feedback to those I request books from.

If you'd like to do something in return, maybe subscribe, like some of the videos, or share them onwards. The more readers I can reach, the more I will be able to do this in the future, and the more useful the reviews will be. Again, this isn't a requirement, just something nice. =]
