If you need a suggestion: Outlander

The Starz show is terrific, and will be streaming on Feb 9th / on regular DVD in March in time to catch up before the 2nd half of the season starts up in April.

A Game of Thrones is another one, but in this case I'd watch the show first -- I tried reading the book first but couldn't keep track of all the characters. Maybe hardcore fantasy readers are used to it, but I don't normally read fantasy. :)

Just finished by James Patterson. The TV series Women's Murder Club was based on the book series.

The Time in Between
This was turned into a TV series from Spain. It's really good. I didn't know much about the Spanish Civil war and so I learned a lot. Also in the TV series the clothes are fabulous!!
