i suppose duolingo is fine, but i once read an article that said the people who created it made it addictive like a game so i gave up on it then

It could be addictive. But I write down all the new words I learn and examples of sentences which can be formed by it so it's not addictive for me.

that's cool. I've heard French is a hard language to speak. Specially the "r" sound.
Spanish pronunciation is pretty easy imo
You just need to take care of the accents.
