17 - A book that has the same title as a song
The Rose by Tiffany Reisz is one from my TBR list. The song is "The Rose," which was originally recorded and made famous by Bette Midler (LeAnn Rimes sang the version I heard first).
I thought this one was going to be tough, but today I looked up all the titles on my TBR I thought would make good song titles, and found that a bunch of them were! I added them all to the listopia.
I had just added Cool for the Summer to my TBR list and was really excited for it and then remembered that it's also a Demi Lovato song.
This sounds like the perfect prompt for The Deep by Rivers Solomon. The story is actually based on the song/album The Deep by the rapper clipping. and is recommended to be read alongside the music.On a similar note the album Into The Wild by Pearl Jam's frontman Eddie Vedder is the film music to the screen adaptation of Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. I really recommend both!
The amount of times I've searched for a book online and I've been given a song instead, this should be easy.

A few I've read:
The Secret Garden (song by Quincy Jones)
Heaven (song by Bryan Adams)
Dark Angel (song by Blue Rodeo)
Seven Up (song by Boy in Space)
The Postcard (song by The Who)
Can I Get There by Candlelight? (song by David McWilliams)
Born to Race (song by OneRepublic)
The Royals (song by Lorde)
Beloved (song by Mumford & Sons)
Then there are the books that musicians have named after their songs:
Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful (song by Bon Jovi)
My Way (song by Paul Anka)
Loretta Lynn: Coal Miner's Daughter (song by Loretta Lynn)
Don't Stop Believin' (song by Journey)
Runnin' with the Devil: A Backstage Pass to the Wild Times, Loud Rock, and the Down and Dirty Truth Behind the Making of Van Halen (song by Van Halen)
Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science that Will Transform Your Sex Life by Emily NagoskiIf you ignore the subtitle, it's a Nirvana song
If anyone plans to read more about Joe Goldberg next year with You Love Me - it is also a song by Flora Cash...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gYIW...
I went through Spotify and searched the titles of my TBR...there weren't many pickings!! I'm going with Everything I Know About Love, though, after finding quite an amusing song that struck a note with me - https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=p9z... (probably not SFW)
I thought this was going to be tough but it's been the most fun so far! I've found so many good choices and I've been singing my way through my TBR and lots of lists all afternoon. My shortlist at the moment is: Roseanna, The Passenger, Real Life, Confessions, Leave the World Behind. I think I'll choose Roseanna because it has stuck in my head!
I'm not sure what I'm going to read for this yet, but Paige Toon has a lot of romances that would fit this prompt.Lucy in the Sky
Pictures of Lily
Johnny Be Good
Baby Be Mine
I'm reading The Female of the Species, which is an obscure track from the first Austin Powers soundtrack. ;)
I really enjoyed If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane, so for this category I may read her earlier book, Don't You Forget About Me
Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton would work, since the first song of the musical is also called that. There's nothing that says it has to be unrelated.
Sherri wrote: "I'm reading The Female of the Species, which is an obscure track from the first Austin Powers soundtrack. ;)"Haha Space were fairly well known in the 90s Britain of my youth. I am pretty sure I had their album and some of their songs still crop up on the radio occasionally.
Every Day by David Levithan (song by James Taylor)Home by Toni Morrison (song by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
I'm going to read I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Hannah Green/Joanne Greenberg.I love the Country song, and my bonus child has schizophrenia.
You Should See Me In A Crown has been on my TBR cart for months so definitely picking this one. Thank you, Billie Eilish
A lot of books by Mary Higgins Clark would work here. A few from my own shelf: * All Through the Night
* Silent Night
* Let Me Call You Sweetheart
* I've Got You Under My Skin
* I Heard That Song Before
* All Around the Town
* Deck the Halls
A couple not by MHC:
* Dream When You're Feeling Blue by Elizabeth Berg
* The Diamond as Big as the Ritz by F. Scott Fitzgerald
* Fever by Elizabeth Lowell
* Silver Bells by Fern Michaels
* Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen
* Baby, I'm Yours by Stephanie Bond
* Kiss Me Deadly by Michele Hauf
* Time After Time by Kay Hooper
* Mandy by Julie Andrews Edwards
I'm going to be reading Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier for my book group Everyone Has Read This But Me (EHRTBM) in January and apparently, Rebecca was turned into a musical play with a song featuring that title character. Just watched a bunch of different world languages versions of it on YouTube.
There’s “just haven’t met you yet” by cate woods (song by Michael bible). I read this for a prompt a few years ago. I’m going with “part of your world” for this print (by Liz brassell), song from the little mermaid!!

I loved Space! Had a bit of a crush on the lead singer too...!
In the book There There by Tommy Orange the title is discussed in reference to the Radiohead song of the same name (though the title itself refers to the Gertrude Stein quote). Also, Buffalo Soldier by Maurice Broaddus is a alternate history Western adventure story that shares a title with the Bob Marley song.
The Phantom of the OperaI'm disappointed in myself for not thinking of this first. I only have a tattoo dedicated to the musical.
I think I might go with Heart-Shaped BoxThe song has special meaning for someone who means a lot to me, and it is also on my TBR.
Since You've Been Gone and Never Let Me Go are also on my short list.
And the more i look, the more i'm finding other interesting titles, so i might need to stop looking!
I'll be reading The Next Time You See Me by Holly Goddard Jones. This title came up for a few artists but the one I recognized was the Grateful Dead released in 1967.
I will be listening to “Our House” on Audible. It has been on my TBR for a bit, anyway, which is a bonus!
I am currently reading an ARC called "We Could Be Heroes by Mike Chen that comes out in 2021 and it is fantastic so far! I unfortunately can't use it for my own challenge, but perhaps it can help someone else! It comes out in January. There is a song called Heroes (We Could Be)-so this should work! Also Bad Blood by John Carreyrou. The full title is "Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup but I am pretty sure it will still count :)

I came here to mention that book. Technically, the Bowie song title is just "Heroes" but when I read "We could be heroes" I hear it sung by Bowie in my head, so it counts for me!!

I will have to listen!
I chose A Whole New World (A Twisted Tale #1), which is the same as the song title from the Aladdin movie soundtrack.

HE ONLY HAD HIMSELF TO BLAME
IF YOU'DA BEEN THERE
IF YOUDA SEEN IT

Carry On and Since You've Been Gone might appeal to me, but Jill Mansell's Take a Chance on Me would probably be my choice. I've read a couple of her books and enjoyed them.
How about you?
