Am so excited about these! Looking forward to the Genre Bingo and TBR Jar. My idea is to make a bingo of all combinations of writing, including Pultizer, around the world, fantasy, Biography, etc so I can cover more ground :) Will the links for these challenges be posted here once they're ready? so we need to create our own links under discussions?

Our 15 yearly challenges will be rolled out gradually during the first half of December. Once a challenge is posted, this guide will provide a link to it.
To sign up for a challenge, go to its thread and post a comment.

Arielle,The 2021 TBR Jar challenge won't be posted this week, but you can always check the 2020 TBR Jar Challenge thread. Note that the 2021 version will be slightly different.
However, some of the 2020 participants have posted photos of their TBR Jars. Maybe they will inspire you to start thinking of your own Jar while waiting for the 2021 challenge to post.

I must be a dork because I get excited for both the new and returning challenges. I really like the Color Challenge and Let's Turn Pages.
Wooaahh!! There are more challenges that I would like to join! But I don't know how am I going to manage them all at once!
Looking forward to the Serial Reader Challenge again, along with Monthly and Quarterly. With a TBR list that's constantly growing, challenges are good .
So many great challenges coming up, I can't wait to see them roll out :D
hi, just a quick question. Can books count in more then one challenge? Like I can read a book for the 'spell a better world' challenge and also count it for the 'Serial Reader' challenge.
JaidaYes. You can't count your book for multiple prompts within one challenge but, like in the example you gave, you can definitely count it toward multiple challenges.

Thank you for your interest in Let's Turn Pages 2021.
We've been posting the 15 yearly challenges in phases, so that group members have the time to check out five challenges every week and that the moderators leading them will have time to handle the signing up process.
So, no, you cannot yet sign up for Let's Turn Pages 2021 because it has yet to be posted.
On the bright side, the five remaining yearly challenges will be posted in just a few more days.

Will the original Goodreads challenge be offered again this year? This was a challenge based only on the number of books read.

The 15 yearly challenges listed above represent those hosted by this group. They vary somewhat from year to year and are led by the group moderators.
The Goodreads Reading Challenge that you mention is administered by Goodreads and is offered every year.
On January 1st, you will be able to set your new reading goal for 2021.
I can’t wait to start the Tbr jar challenge in the new year :) . I might have signed up for too many challenges for my first attempt at participating in reading challenges though, I’ve signed up for a few in other Goodreads groups and considering the Global Voices challenge as well.
LaceyYou can always re-evaluate your progress in all of your challenge in mid-year and then ask to have your goals adjusted as necessary.
If I've signed up for a challenge goal of 50 books, but the end of June finds me at only 15 books, I will definitely enjoy reading more if I ask the challenge leader to drop my challenge goal to 25 or 30 books.
There's no shame in downsizing one's challenge goals. It's impossible to predict what life will bring each of us when planning our challenges at the start of the year.

So many challenges and a good variety :)! I have signed up for a few, but am going to have to come back to get all of that and put it in my personal group where I keep track of things (well, where I am supposed to keep track of things). There are more, but I have to be careful I don't over-extend myself since I am already committed to a couple of other things from before I found this group.This is a well thought out site and the mods here have done a great job.
One of the things I like is that you have enough variation that I can avoid ones that don't work for me, or I can limit them to goals I already have (I have a personal challenge that the first 100 books I read match American race demographics, but they don't have to be Americans, which works with part of global voices, for example, but I have done so much reading over my life that I don't feel I need to do all of the categories since I have covered much of that already, even if they aren't all listed on GR--I don't know what the average age here is, but I have kids aged 20-25).
I am confused once again. I understand we need to use an update post and the number of our first post. Do I also post this where I have my initial list. Please answer.

. No you do not have to do anything to your first post where you joined the challenge unless your using it for your personal notes on your progress. Hope this helps .

Have you read through the Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly Challenges - Start Here thread? It contains a lot of information about signing up for and completing our challenges.
I would prefer not to repeat myself here because you'll find the answer to your question in that thread.
About your sign-up post, it is used to list both your current progress and your qualifying books. If you have a corresponding post in your Member's Corner thread, you can link there. You'll find instructions in the link above.
Every challenge participant needs to keep a list of the books they're reading for a challenge and their current progress somewhere, either in their sign-up post or a post in their personal thread.
In that sense, AurorainBookland's comment that the sign-up post need not be used is incorrect.

Now im confused last year I was in challenges and never edited my original post I had a page in a notebook for keeping progress

If you choose not to do so, that's your personal, decision and we respect that.
This is, after a recreational group. The challenge guidelines are design to simplify progress tracking by challenge leaders (who all volunteer their free time) and to encourage participants to share their challenge-related reading lists.

Oh okay thanks, still learning how this group works.
This year in series challenge I shared the books so I can update it as I go haven't gotten to them yet.
Color challenge just said goal 2 books havent decided yet I have a list of options in my personal goal thread but can update that too same for the A - Z character challenge.
This is wonderful. I haven't truly been part of an online book club in a very long time because there were none to rival the one I was part of 20+ years ago. This one has brought a smile to my face and a renewed sense of bookclub joy! Now, if I can only manage to maneuver through the site without being a technologically challenged oaf it will be a miracle!

I have enjoyed the “Let’s Turn Pages” Challenge for several years, watching my pages increase and moving up to the different tiers.Our 2021 challenge hasn’t been updated in a couple of months. I have posted my totals at mid-month and end of month as done in the past.
Believe me, we are all living through crazy times right now, and am just inquiring as to when our page totals might be updated.

A-Z CHALLENGE: Using the first letter of the name of a book's main character, read a book for each letter of the alphabet. Which characters will you choose for this year’s yearly theme of A Better World?
A BETTER WORLD: For this challenge, the Mod Team got together to brainstorm prompts related to the 2021 yearly theme, A Better World. We’re looking forward to seeing which books you read for this challenge!
BOOK CLUB: If you enjoy reading and discussing books with other group members, this new challenge is for you! Track your progress in the group’s three virtual book club activities: Group Reads, Buddy Reads, and TBR Twins.
CLEAR THE SHELVES: If your bookshelves (and ebook/audiobook devices) are groaning under the weight of your many unread books, this challenge will help you organize and clear your shelves. Dust off your shelves then start clearing!
COLOR CHALLENGE: This addictively fun challenge is a long-time group favorite. To participate, read books with colors in their cover art or title that match the challenge prompts. Sound too easy? You can always choose to complete each of the 18 prompts twice!
GENRE BINGO: You can use the bingo card provided or use a bingo card generator to create your own original Genre Bingo card. Then, read books to make as many "bingos" as possible. Set your goal to read a total number of books, achieve a number of bingos, or both!
GIVE US A CLUE: This new challenge is inspired by the classic board game Cluedo (known as Clue in North America). To set the scene, you're investigating a murder at Reading Challenge Manor by seeking clues in the books that you read. Make deductions based on the clues you gather and try to guess what took place.
GLOBAL VOICES: This challenge promotes reading diversity in every sense of the term. You will read books from authors around the world with different beliefs, lifestyles, and backgrounds, with a special emphasis on underrepresented, marginalized, and #ownvoices authors. You may read fiction or nonfiction for this challenge.
LET’S TURN PAGES: Rather than the number of books you’ve finished in 2021, this challenge let’s you track the pages you've read. Don’t worry about choosing between a short novella and a lengthy chunkster! Count your audiobook’s page count based on its most popular hardcover edition. Choose your yearly goal and let's turn pages!
LISTOPIA: Select from GoodReads’ user-created listopias and decide how many books to read from each one. You can mix it up however you like. For example, you could read 20 books from a single listopia, the top 5 books from four listopias, or any 8 books from three listopias.
MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR: If you enjoy reading mystery novels, this new challenge will scratch the itch of your inner armchair detective. Earn promotions to rise in the ranks of the world of criminal investigation by reading crime fiction that satisfies either specific prompts or open prompts. Let’s go! It’s time to get your sleuth on!
POPSUGAR: We've brought over the prompt-based 2021 PopSugar Reading Challenge so you can track your progress on this popular challenge in the company of fellow group members. How many prompts you sign up for is up to you.
SERIAL READER: This challenge is all about serial reading. Decide on your 2021 reading goal to start, continue, or finish series or to read a series from start to finish. Make progress in both new and unfinished series in 2021! Get ready to get serious about serials!
SPELL A BETTER WORLD: What better way for book lovers to build a better world than to spell one out with book titles? It’s fun and a reminder of how you’ve chosen to work toward a higher quality of life. This can involve global, family, or personal contributions toward improving or maintaining your positive force on the world.
TBR JAR: This challenge aims to help you (randomly) tackle your growing mountain of TBR (To-Be-Read) books. List your TBRs, write them down on slips of paper, place them in a physical jar, then SHAKE. Pull out a slip to choose which TBR to read next. Another option consists of following prompts to choose books from your TBRs.
