I want to use this exhibit:
Juan Gris, 1914, The Sunblind, collage and oil on canvas, 92 × 72.5 cm

For this painting, I want to read a book for this interactive task:
Read book with an object protecting from sun light on cover

Would work for this task? If not, would any book with an umbrella on cover would be acceptable?
I find only the Kindle Edition for the book posted and the page count is 295.

My other choice is . This has a sun glass on cover.

As the writer of this task, you would know better than I what you had in mind for " an object protecting from sun light on cover". So I'm only going to rule on the page length.

According to Amazon.ca, Lovely Little Things is available in paperback with 296 pages.

It doesn't say on wikipedia either, so we know as little as you do. Perhaps you can just make a task based on what you see?

If you look here, and look under public collection. In Chrome it prompts you to translate to English. It won't be perfect English but will give you a start.

You could try a reverse image search. That might help. I have zero idea what the first one is but the second one looks like a necklace that the chain broke off of and the third one looks like a horn or pipe of some type. Hope that helps a little.

Viji - Another suggestion is that you can always use google translate. It will translate anything from another language into English and will even detect the original language if you don't know it. You can find it here: https://translate.google.com

I don't think there should be near identical tasks in a museum.

The first link looks like thimbles to me which might be in keeping with your embroidery. It doesn't have to actually be that the objects are thimbles. You could say that the picture makes you think of thimbles.

The necklace picture could inspire tasks involving blue covers, or turquoise in the title. It could inspire cover tasks with several little circles on it. They almost look like buttons.

The third looks like a horn carved into a canoe and there are two men rowing.

There's lots you can do with these pictures without knowing exactly what the item is supposed to be.

I want to share your picture of the Broken Broken Terracotta Statues for this interactive task. I could not find the link for this. How do I access the picture link?

I found the description - " The Terracotta statues found in Xi’an have been virtually all found in pieces. Restoration is laborious and time-consuming."

Could I make my task as "Read a book with an archeologist/art restorer in it"?

Right click on any picture and there will be an option to copy the image link.

You can create any task from a picture as long as you can explain the logic behind it. "This picture makes me think of...."

What wouldn't work would be to create a task that can't logically fit. For example the picture is mostly blue so you decide to write a task for a cover that is mostly brown.

You don't need to get a ruling on your task if you can logically explain it.

I just want to know one or two instances where I need to get a ruling. I am a bit confused here. I find that I keep asking for ruling where it is not required.

I understand that wherever I could explain my choice of books to fit the object I chose, I need not check about it.

In the current instance of , I wanted to know if a task almost similar to the one prescribed by you could be phrased for this book - though technically the words are different. That has been cleared by you. I wanted to do the 'buttons' task. But, as I am reading this book and want to use it for this challenge, I wanted to be sure this book could be used for the same Museum for the 'circular objects' task. That was my confusion. I hope you understand.

My task was jewelry on the cover. Your task was circular items on the cover. See the difference? You chose to use circular jewelry. So it fits the task of "circular items on the cover". I think you are overthinking this.

Find a picture. Write a task based on your interpretation of the picture. Explain the logic. Stop being afraid you're making errors. You're doing fine.

Hi I am really struggling to get pictures of anything in this museum lots of links to printable educational materials but not very much else. I have found a link to the holocaust library https://library.yadvashem.org/index.h...

There are lots of donated photographs but i feel like I am simply relating to place names

Whatever you decide is fine I will just have to keep on looking but I have been at this all day. The site has lovely photos of the building and large galleries but not many individual exhibits

If anyone can send me a link to the pic they used - NOT the task they made from it I could try to create something. I am not the most computer savvy

I created one based on the "Final Solution" gallery. https://www.yadvashem.org/museum/holo... as the first photo is obviously part of the tracks that took the Jews to the camps, I created a task based on murder. But maybe something about trains or transportation could also be made from it?

It is a little harder with this type of museum as it is not just about individual pieces of art but about the whole exhibit.

I also thought about using 'The Last Jews' gallery https://www.yadvashem.org/museum/holo... as the first photo is of the concentration camp clothes and they remind me of prison garb. Would have been able to do something about prisons or convicts or police or even stripes or clothes.......

Your selection can be from the collection or exhibits. Did you miss out the bit about exhibits? Because this page: https://www.yadvashem.org/exhibitions... has lots of pictures. Within seconds of scrolling, I see lots of pictures that I could write tasks on. I even see the picture I used for the Collections item.

I would not be opposed to library materials if you truly could not find collection or exhibit items, but I think there is lots to chose from.

I had not created a task for this museum yet. It was very hard to look a the pictures. All I wanted to do was cry, reading all of the titles.

Each one of those pictures are links to exhibits. So you could spend quite a bit of time looking at pictures. It's a very sad history.

Welcome Jocelyn! This is a fun challenge and you will spend lots of time ( which is half the fun) finding reads for each task. We call that “gophering.”

According to rule 7 in the General rules “ If a task refers to the title, the subtitle or series title doesn’t count unless specified in a task.”

So your example wouldn’t work. But now you get to keep “gophering” ;).

Using the black and white balance piece in the bottom right corner, could I create a task to Read a book with MPG Race or Social Justice?

Maybe explain why the black and white balance makes you think of race or social justice. I think I know your logic behind it, but I don't want to assume anything. So you could say, "The black and white balance in the corner makes me think _______." Then "Task: Read a book with MPG Race or Social Justice."

And you're good to go.
