Cyrus Winters | 7 comments Hi I'm looking for a 4 Book Children's Illustrated Series. Each of the four books features one of four characters as the main character (and the characters overlap as supporting characters between books). The characters are all different, weird looking creatures - all I remember about their appearance is one is red, one is blue, one is yellow and one is green. I had two books from the series somewhere between 1990 and 1995. Possibly Australian. On the backs of the books there were small covers of all four books.

Like Little Miss Bossy or Mr. Tickle, but there were a lot more than just four books.

Thanks for the reply! :)

I had a look through his books and they weren't there. The books I'm looking for were more detailed with the illustrations, and might be for children a couple of grades older.

Cyrus, what's the theme of the series? How do the characters differ in personality, interests, etc.?

Rainbowheart | 28672 comments I also thought of Barbapapa because they are weird looking and different colors, but probably not.

Yeah, sorry, definitely not that. I don't think there are any humans in it.

I wish I could answer this properly, but my memory is so fuzzy.

All I can remember about the characters is the vaguest sense of their appearance - and their appearance might be what drew me to them so much. The clearest picture I have of one of the characters is that he might have been say the size of a small man, but his face is a mix of fox and walrus. He isn't meant to be a mix, he's just an original creature, which all four of them were. I think one of the creatures was a lot smaller than the others as well, like a tiny mole (think the small one was female).

All I know about the themes of the series was like you go on an adventure with each of the characters and explore their story. And I believe that possibly only one of the other three characters feature as the supporting character in each book as the main creature's friend they go on the adventure with (so every character appears in the series in two books). That's just a feeling though, it could be wrong.

Are these children's chapter books/novels, not picture books (approx. 32-48 pages)?

They're picture books. I remember them being small to hold. But each page wouldn't just have one or two sentences. More like a paragraph or two. That's just what I'm remembering.

Cyrus Winters | 7 comments It's closer to Wind and the Willows than the Mr. Men stuff.

Rainbowheart | 28672 comments Also kinda reminds me of the Moomins, but they're all white.

The Moomins and the Great Flood is the first book in that series.

Not the Moomims, I'm afraid. Each of the four books had the featured character on the cover in the center. The character's name would have been in the book title.
