Oh I do feel welcomed. Thanks for typing your encouragement.

Angie | 496 comments Great list. The Garden Party and Other Stories this year, as well. Hope you have fun!

I intend to have fun reading, yes. As for Mansfield, she remains largely unexplored to me.

Cynda | 5192 comments Luffy, glad you're here too. And glad to be reminded of Michener. I have been promising myself another book by him.

message 7: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) | 751 comments The feeling is mutual. If you're wondering, the other, more obscure choices I made are very, very good books. I know that because I've read some of their predecessors, and a couple are part of a series and I do recommend them without doubt.

message 8: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 5458 comments Welcome, Luffy! Wolf Hall was maybe my favorite read from this year, and I'm very interested to see the Will Durant on your list. I inherited that collection from my parents, and I'm a little daunted by it. Are you going through the whole thing, or just this one (the biggest one, by the way!)?

message 9: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) | 751 comments Thank you, Kathleen. I admit to not knowing this Will Durant book was the biggest. I've read the first one. The Greek book succeeded in testing my patience. I also couldn't finish two other books in the series. But with The Age of Faith, my intent is to take the year to read this chunkster.

I dearly hope I'm compatible with the book. Everybody seems to like WH so much... thanks for stopping by. Missed your message a couple of days. Shocking, I know.

Nice selection! Wolf Hall is beckoning me too.
Good luck with your challenge!

Donna (drspoon) | 3 comments I got Tales of the South Pacific for my hubby for Christmas, so of course, a second hand gift for me.

I loved Wolf Hall, once I got acclimated to the pronoun usage. All of her books take patience. As excellent as the Cromwell trilogy is, my favorite book by her is A Place of Greater Safety.

Thank you for these tidbits. I generally don't have much time for reading, except for the rest of December and January, so hope I make the most of it. Happy reading to you all.
