JSWolf | 649 comments The books Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1) by Ernest Cline and Ready Player Two (Ready Player One, #2) by Ernest Cline are labeled with an incorrect series name. The series name as labeled on Goodreads is Ready Player One when that makes no sense and is in fact, Ready Player. That way the series names will be Ready Player #1 and Ready Player #2. Please fix. Thanks.

Robert 'Rev. Bob' (revbobmib) | 7 comments This was correct the first time. Calling the series "Ready Player" makes no sense; "Ready Player" is not a meaningful title.

The book titles are callbacks to the old video game convention of putting a message on the screen so that the players would know whose turn it was to take the controls. Thus, "Ready Player One" is a message to Player One to get ready to play.

Amazon lists the books as "Ready Player One Book 1" and "Ready Player One Book 2" for a reason, and they get that information straight from the publication pipeline. "Ready Player One" is not only the title of the first book, but the name of the series.
