Caspian unlocked the door and nudged it open with his foot, gently setting Cat-Diego down on his bed before closing the door and laying down next to him, hiding his face in his fur.
Diego-Cat continued his loud purring, lightly flicking his tail from content. He turned his head to Caspian's and brushed his feathery tail against his ear.
Caspian held him close but tried to be gentle, playing absentmindedly with his tail. ”Am I too heavy?”
Diego shook his head. "No." He gave Caspian's forehead a comforting lick. "Comfortable." I don't ever want you to move away. This is nice.
Caspian blushed but it didn't show, his head leaning against his warm and small body. ”Okie...” He trailed off, a relaxed smile on his face. ”You’re an adorable kitty cat.”
Diego's heart warmed. "Gracias," he carefully observed the part-vampire. It was positions like this he could allow his lovesick emotions to show in his eyes, whenever Caspian wasn't looking. He had long forgotten how many years he had harbored these feelings. He just knew it was starting to hurt.
I love you He thought, feeling a pang in his otherwise silent heart, never wanting to let go of him even though he knew he had to. I'm not good enough for someone like him and I never will be... That's just the way it is
Diego rested his head on his paws. At least I can have moments like this. He internally sighed. It's times like this when I wish I had Ember's power of reading emotions. So I could know how he feels about me. He was thankful for the lack of tear ducts in his current form.
Casper yawned and took the plate of food, sitting up straight and petting the top of his head. ”Do you want to turn back now? It's a bit late for it, but we have food.”
Diego nodded and pushed himself off the bed to shift back to his 6'3" self. "Being a gato is nice." He grinned before gently rubbing his throat. "You can be lazy and not feel bad about it,"
Caspian nodded and pulled him back, promptly leaning against him as he munched on chocolate and handed him the sandwich. ”Do you want to explore tomorrow?” He asked, reaching for his bag. ”Also, J have something to show you.”
Diego nodded excitedly at the idea. "Sí!" He grinned as he took the sandwich gratefully. He then tipped his head like the curious puppy he was. "Qué?"
Caspian laughed and took out a pack of contacts, holding them up happily. ”You know how I hate my eye color? Well I got these dark brown contacts!” He said, opening and looking at them. ”What do you think?!”
Internally, Diego was sad, but the sight of Caspian's joy made him push away his own personal opinion, and he smiled for him instead. "That's great, Caspy!"
”I mean, I don't really have a way to get rid of my patches or pointy ears, but at least I'll look a more normal!” He exlcaimed and quickly too two, heading to the bathroom and putting them on. He came out and plopped right back down in front of Diego, a huge smile on his face. “They won’t last as long because of some chemicals that my eyes have, but do they look good?”
Diego felt mixed emotions. While he was genuinely happy for him, he also was sad that he boy he loved was trying to change what made him unique. "They're beautiful," he couldn't stop himself from kissing his forehead. "Just like the rest of you,"
Caspian blushed and averted his gaze before stiffening. “But I’m not. Beautiful, that is.” He clarified, his eyes feeling itchy with the contacts.
Diego frowned at the response. "Caspy, you've never been so wrong in your life." He sighed. "You're the most beautiful. Not just outside, but inside, too. You're perfect in my eyes."
Caspian stayed silent, making eye contact with him. His expression was blank but his heart thundered like a racing horse, prickly redness creeping up the back of his neck.
Diego's heart just stopped when he was given no response. "Ah... I'll shut up now." He swallowed down his emotions and gave a visibly pained smile. "Ignore me," he whispered and stood up to move to his own side of the room. I stepped over the boundary.
Caspian shook his head and took his hand, pulling Diego pack down. “Thank you Sunshine.” He whispered and laid back on the bed, yawning. “Stay?” He shouldn't have and he was telling himself not to, but how could he resist after seeing Diego sad? But it was totally just a bro thing. Definitely not because he was deeply in love with his childhood best friend and had been for 8 years but had to hide it because he didn't want to ruin his relationship with him... Oh God....
”How so? This is your dorm too isn't it?” He asked, eyebrow raised, but he let go gently, looking up at him calmly, giving him the choice to go.
"Sí," Diego nodded and sat on the edge of the bed. "I guess... I just feel like..." He groaned in frustration as he tried to explain himself in the least descriptive way possible. "Like I stepped over a boundary when I spoke. And that I made you upset with my actions."
”No, if that were true then you'd definitely know. If I were upset at you that is.” He clarified. ”Now give me my human cuddles; they are long overdue.”
Diego let a soft sigh of relief fall from his lips and finally laid himself down beside Caspian. "Now I'm just gonna say," He stared into his eyes with a rare, strict gaze. "I'm not letting you sleep until the contacts are out. I don't want you injuring eyesight."
He sighed and grumbled, slowly and very reluctantly getting and going to the bathroom to take out the contacts and put them in the trash can. He came back and put the rest safely in a box back in their shared bathroom before getting into bed and swaddling himself in a dark blue fluff blanket, simultaneously snuggling into Diego. He was closing his eyes the entire time in the bathroom, not daring to look at himself in the mirror.
((POOR BBY ;A; ))Diego wrapped his arms securely around the smaller boy and let himself relax. Please stop this madness... He softly stroked Caspian's hair. Please stop breaking my heart by changing what makes you you.
Caspian smiled absentmindedly, loving the feel of being pet/having his hair stroked. He trying to wiggle closer, it being a little hard because of his becoming a navy wrapped furry burrito.
Diego softly chuckled at Caspian's actions and gladly pulled him closer. Vampire-bat burrito. He smiled and gently nuzzled him.
Caspian slowly drifted off and poked his head out a little bit to rest it on his shoulder, curling into him. As he slept, he’d whimper from time to time and roll around a little but he’d always come back to snuggle with Diego
Diego sighed in content, eventually pushing out his lovelorn thoughts. Maybe one day I'll try hinting my feelings. I doubt it'll get through his thick skull, though. He closed his eyes and slowed his breathing as fell into a dreamless sleep.
Caspian woke up but didn’t open his eyes, the comforter and blankets messed around, but he didn’t care, not wanting to get up, so he just continued to lie there and hope he could just stay that way.
Diego had somehow managed to untangle himself from Caspian during his sleep. Slowly opening his eyes, he sat up and stretched. "Ahh, that was nice!" As normal, he woke up with overwhelming excitement for the day. Hopping off the bed, he wandered up to his own window and pulled open the curtains without a care in the world.
Caspian fell off the bed and hissed at the sudden light, squirming and hiding under the bed. “DIEGO!!!” He yelled, groaning and tossing the blanket off of him, still staying under the bed
((That's the idea. xD ))Diego jumped in surprise and turned around to find Caspian hiding under his bed. He wandered over and got down to looked at him. "Sí?" He gave a genuinely oblivious smile.
Caspian was about to go off on him about himself definitely not being a morning person... But of course he had to ruin Caspian’s grumpiness with that stupid gorgeous smile of his and his amazing innocence... Crap He thought, just grumbling as he poked his head out to tug Diego down so that he could hug him, half of his body out from under his bed. “You destroyed my cuddle time.” He huffed instead, not being able to help himself.
