Zuzana | 2570 comments Should the posts in FAQ have any heading? Yes or no? How should we format it? Would my above post about spells/potions be o.k. or should I change it? If so in what way?

Zuzana | 2570 comments A test entry to Ye Olde FAQ Thread. Feel free to pick it apart. What would you change about the formatting?

MINOR POISON POTION/ PACK MONSTERS

Zuzana wrote: About the Queens: If I use a minor poison, does it affect all four queens or do I have to pick just one? (It would mean that to poison them all we'd need 4 minor poison potions).

Kelly wrote: Hmm... The description says "Poisons the monster causing 2 amount of additional damage at the beginning of the turn." and monster is singular so I'd probably do each queen independently.

Zuzana wrote: [...], poison is a potion. So per rules it takes effect at the beginning of the round. In case of the minor poison potion it's at the beginning of every round after it was used first.

To simplify things we count the poison as +2 to our attack power and it works fine if you BOTH use it at the beginning of the first round AND you attack a single animal.

Kelly confirmed that you can poison only one animal at time, if you attack a pack of monsters you can deduct those 2 extra points only from health of the poisoned monster.

Is it right, Kelly?

Kelly wrote: Yeah. I think we consider it as the monster is poisoned rather than it being a poisoned weapon. Which does lead to an interesting new potion that could be developed.

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments I think it can just be simplified a good deal, so it's quick answer and less to read through.

Like all the things about MINOR POISON under one place since this covers more than pack monsters.

So something like:

Minor Poison potion
- Poisons one monster and causes -2 HP damage each turn. If facing multiple monsters, you may use multiple poison potions to poison each one.
- Monster HP is lost no matter what attack a hero uses (sword, staff, or spells).
- Potion lasts only for the duration of the fight whether facing multiple or singular monsters for that fight.

That way it's simple, clear and without all the excess. If you like, you can cite the Tavern posts where it's discussed and they can see the exact conversation there. Otherwise if you're transcribing the full thing there's no reason to cite the locations.

Zuzana | 2570 comments Thanks, Morgan. I used quotes because I don't think my English is good enough to do what you did above and not alter Kelly's meaning.

To kick off the FAQ thread I used your text. I hope you don't mind.

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments No problem. I can do that with whatever you all want to add, because editing/writing and such is my degree--though I only freelance with it right now. I got your back. ;)

Zuzana | 2570 comments LOL! I'll take you up on that offer.

I believe that this Rocky question was asked more than once, too.

Catherine: How does Rocky the Rock's defence ability work with the Queens? Does it blunt one off each of the queen's attacks or just one off one of their attacks? i.e. does it end up as -4 or -1?

Kelly: One off each :) Same with swarm.

- and the spell questions, pretty please, now that everybody wants to help with Eisdrake:

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I'd like to do my 1st Great Dragon battle. Does this look right?

Eisdrake - 20 (-2 Rocky -1 Shield) Attack 19,115 Health
Level 12 Mod Hero - Level 6 Sword | Level 14 Staff | 32 HP | 1779 Exp

Takes Pet Plus Potion
Staff Attack = 14 + 2 mod + 2 horse + 4 puppy + 3 orb + 1 hat = 26 + bauble
Fire Magik = 10 x 2 = 20 + 2 horse + 4 puppy = 26

Kamikaze attack Eisdrake = 19,115 - 4 = 19,111
Staff attack Eisdrake (26+1B) = 19,111 - 27 = 19,084
Eisdrake attack (17) = 32-17 = 15

1 Major Heal Potion = 15+15 = 30
Staff attack Eisdrake (26+2B) = 19,084 - 28 = 19,056
Eisdrake attack (17) = 30-17 = 13

1 Major Heal Potion = 13+15 = 28
Fire attack Eisdrake (26) = 19,056 - 26 = 19,030
Eisdrake attack (17) = 28-17 = 11

1 Major Heal Potion = 11+15 = 26
Staff attack Eisdrake (26+4B x 0.20) = 19,030 - 36 = 18,994
Eisdrake attack (17) = 26-17 = 9

Total in Attack: 121 HP = 12 Exp & 1 carryover

message 7417: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments Sorry sidelined for a bit with a migraine. Down to a dull roar now so I can function-ish, but please let me know if I miss something in editing down.

Rocky the Rock
- Subtracts -1 from the Attack Power of Monsters. When facing multiple Monsters at once, it subtracts -1 from each one individually.
- Heals +1 at the end of a battle.

Spells + Pets & Potions

- When casting a spell for a round, bonus attacks from your puppy and horse still contribute to damage. Pet Plus Potion also still applies to both.
Ex. (base attack, combat2 puppy, & horse) Firebolt 10 Attack + 2 puppy + 1 horse = 13 Attack
Ex. (adding Pet Plus Potion to above) Firebolt 10 Attack + 4 puppy + 2 horse = 16 Attack

- Damage Potion will also work to increase spell attack power adding +3.

- The following potions do NOT work directly with spells: Enhanced Weapon, Weakening, and Growing Strength. These apply to weapons ONLY.

- HOWEVER, Growing Strength and the Baubles both continue to increase in every turn even if you are casting spells. While they don't apply during the turns while casting spells, they are increasing in the background until the turn when you use a weapon again.
Ex. (either growing strength potion or bauble applied)
Turn #1 - cast spell
Turn #2 - cast spell
Turn #3 - +3 Attack Power from the Growing Strength potion or bauble.
(Or from BOTH if you have the bauble AND use the potion, leading to +6 to your Attack Power on turn #3)

Let me know if there's anything else I can try to boil down for Ye Olde FAQ (or if I missed something in what you asked earlier). lol. And again, sorry for the unintentional delay in getting back to you with these. Just part of life until I get on one set schedule instead of swapping every week/weekend -- have I mentioned I can't wait to move? I can't wait to move. :|

Zuzana | 2570 comments You are great, Morgan! Thanks so much for doing this. :) Will you post it to Ye Olde FAQ?

I've lived 30 years in one place can't imagine packing everything up and moving someplace else. Are You moving because of work or just to a better (bigger) place?

message 7419: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments Will do. :)

I've moved around a fair bit though this will be one of my two biggest moves so far (Florida).
Partly due to health and needing a more 'normal' work schedule to gain some control over chronic migraines (job switched me temporarily to nights last December, and turned out 8 months later to be permanent). Hoping to transfer in company.
Partly due to current landlord raising rent repeatedly so that it's now more than a paycheck.
Partly also because it's going to be living with my best friend whose husband is in the Navy, so I can be around as an extra adult to help with the kids and things.

Been in Maryland the last 5 years, but Baltimore area is really ridiculously expensive as a single person.
New house is definitely going to be bigger and better though, and excited about the possibility of going back to grad school finally.

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments Thanks guys! I'll take all the luck I can get. ;)

Quick question regarding the fire spell boost to AP against the Eisdrake:

Increases the next hit (next turn) by 20% attack power.

Would that be your AP without any modifiers/pet/potions/orb/etc? Ex. Mine is 13 + 2 = 15
20% would be 3
So I would get +3 to my next turn in attacking, correct?

message 7423: by Teresa (new)

My brother is a stay at home parent right now with their twin girls, so I did consider Kentucky, but I plan on getting licensed there as a just in case sort of thing.

RebeccaS wrote: "I'm from Baltimore Morgan so I totally feel you and the ridiculous rent compared to the typical salary (especially if you work for certain hospitals that don't pay much)."

EXACTLY. Rent is more than my paycheck now, so as soon as that happened -- and there's no way they would pay more since they look for EVERY way not to pay us more and make us get rid of any possible overtime each week -- she and I came up with making what we'd joked about forever a reality.

Alyssa wrote: "So you're moving to FL Morgan? Welcome! It's awesome here :D"

I'm pretty excited!
I'm leaving here in a little over a month and already put my super heavy winter jacket in the donation pile to drop off at Goodwill! I am going to miss spring/fall, but NOT driving Baltimore/DC area in winter!
