Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments I completely encourage people to try the group challenge WOBBLE. You get so sucked into the team atmosphere super quickly.

I was debating back and forth about joining, because I know it's not practical for me but I just love them!!

But again, everyone is different and finds different things fun / stressful. It's really up to each person if they would enjoy it or not.

Greta | 1459 comments Oh I completely understand you reasoning, Rebecca! I was trying to address those who play NRPG but not the team challenges :-)

message 6503: by Karsyn (last edited May 12, 2016 01:02PM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) It stinks that it's coming at at bad time for you Rebecca! :( It's gonna be so fun.

It's all about the teams for me, provided it's a good chatty team. I've been on the chattiest teams (and we won) and on such quiet teams (but we won too) and everything in between. Working together with everyone is so fun for me, and getting to know different people around NBRC is always great.

Don't anyone else mind me. I'm one of those people who think everyone should enjoy everything and just find fun in it all. :D I know that's not the case and everyone's different.

I think we're just throwing out there that it's gonna be so big so people do think about it before committing. We had SOOOOO many people signup for Towers and then come start time, they weren't anywhere to be found. It was a bunch too, not just like 5-10.

Hopefully with the shorter signup time that won't happen this time around and everyone who joins really wants to do it. :D

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Well I can certainly do a book a week LOL. WOBBLE sounds like it would be fun.

message 6505: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments It should be fun, plus I think different teams will be better at certain rounds so it gives everyone a chance to shine.

message 6506: by LaLine (new)

LaLine | 411 comments I'm looking forward to WOBBLE. The Tower Team challenge last fall/winter was the very first challenge I ever tried and I loved it.

Karsyn (imzadi) RebeccaS wrote: "Sonia what's Bookules?"

Not Sonia but All About WOBBLE.

Just as a side note, for anyone not knowing if they should click the link ~

Wobble is our new Team Challenge. Rather than 1 team challenge (like Wheel-a-Thon or Tower Teams) Wobble features 6 in 1. Wobble is the overarching event and consists of :

W ~ Wheel-a-Thon
O ~ Olympic Games (Ancient, of NBRC creation, not affiliated with other groups)
B ~ Battleship
B ~ Bingo
L ~ Labors of Bookules
E ~ Emerge the Victor (Multi-player RPG)

Bookules is gonna be great, I was just trying to get RPGers on board for Emerge the Victor. :)

message 6510: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Will the Labors of Bookules be connected to our RPG, the way Leprechaun Takeover was?

message 6511: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Zuzana wrote: "Will the Labors of Bookules be connected to our RPG, the way Leprechaun Takeover was?"

No. The rest of Wobble has nothing to do with the RPG. Emerge the Victor is the multi-player RPG and will have no bearing on your RPG games. I could be wrong about that, Kelly will have to confirm, but that should be correct because there will be a lot of people playing Emerge the Victor that haven't played RPG before.

Well.... just a teaser because I don't give anything away... But Bookules is all about mini-quests :D

*giggles*

message 6514: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Ugh so the book I was reading for "someone gets stabbed" didn't pan out. I searched the book and read something about a character being stabbed in the back. Apparently this is just a figurative stabbing (a betrayal) not a real stabbing.

Any chance this still counts since the phrase "the knife had been plunged into my own back, not my fathers" is included?

Just trying to finish that kitchen!

message 6515: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments Wobble looks awesome for people who like group challenges, I know I have stepped in a couple times as a pinch hitter for teams where multiple people just never showed and/or dropped, and it was okay (though sucked for the people who had been left before I was brought in). My friend really loves the team stuff, but all it makes me think of group projects in school and how much of a cluster those always were with people slacking or not pulling their weight. lol. I'm just built for the solo. I know I would be a good team member and have my stuff done and be able to do the reading, but it takes the fun out of it for me when people sign up and don't do their part, you know? Stress, frustration, annoyance, etc.

There was one person in a team with my friend who when she had flaked for several weeks got all heated like IT'S JUST A GAME IT'S NOT LIKE IT MATTERS I WILL DO IT IF I FEEL LIKE IT. Like....why sign up for a team thing then? If you don't want other people depending on you to do your part by a certain time....

lol. Yeah, so, long story short: It looks AWESOME, but team challenges will never appeal to me enough to deal with people like that. lol. :P Though I do like the sort of thing we do here as a cooperative thing and it's optional, but fun to work together. Helping each other out and helping build other players up when we can. I like that a lot.

message 6516: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane Yup basically everything Morgan said in a nutshell also. If my life gets crazy and I'm the one slacking, I'd feel awful letting people down and having to explain myself and stressed out that I'm not pulling my weight.
And if I'm not the one slacking, odds are, someone else is and I'd just be frustrated about that.
The great white dragon event is exactly the kind of team activity I'm into- it's great to all work together but it's optional and other people can do the parts I can't. But that's really about my limit when it comes to an online team activity.

message 6517: by Karsyn (last edited May 13, 2016 09:17AM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I'm sorry your friend had to deal with that Morgan, and it does (sadly) happen where it's a team that doesn't work well together and/or a member who doesn't care about helping and flakes out because it is just a game. Sure it's a game, but people are still playing when that person doesn't want to.

Luckily, I've had all positive experiences here with teams. I've been in 7 Team Challenges and never had a team that just crapped out like a few have. Team members have always been good even if members have left, others have stepped up.

It stinks that Team Challenges won't appeal to you Morgan because of a few bad eggs.

You shouldn't feel bad if something comes up, Alyssa. Most people understand emergencies or life getting in the way. Usually the only ones miffed are people like Morgan explained who just don't care and leave for no reason.

Y'all should try it sometime with friends. We allow requests so people can be together on the same team and that helps a lot. Some members just work better together. And/or if you have a good captain, that helps too.

I'm glad Great Dragon is something y'all are able to enjoy. It has been fun, and will continue to be. :D

message 6518: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments haha. Yeah, I just have been on the sidelines a good deal to see it.

But that absolutely doesn't mean that people can't have positive experiences with team challenges, because they're probably the most popular part about a lot of the comms.

I know when I've pinch-hit it was specifically requested what team I was joining for a friend, so that's great that is taken into consideration.

Just not my particular bag of chips. ;)

The RPG here though is exactly my bag of chips. haha. Excited to see what's in store next for us as we defend from the dragon and hopefully defeat it too. :D Then everyone can /dance around it afterwards. haha.

Maybe we find that it had laid multiple eggs and we each get our own tiny dragon. <3 It gets nervous when faced with monsters and then a little fire comes out with an eep to damage monsters with burning 1hp/round. lol.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Hahaha yes Morgan! So creative that would be funny and adorable. How fun to each get our own dragons. I've always wanted to be The Mother of Dragons

Delitealex | 3990 comments If I defeat a sewer rat can I still fight a goblin or other common monster or do I have to wait a week?

message 6523: by Greta (new)

Greta | 1459 comments Couple of questions I thought of-

1. The sword & Magic staff, they keep their attack power, right? It doesn't drain like hp does? So for each round my sword stays at 5A I am thinking.

2. What do we do with the reinforcement supplies we get from the dragon event? Put them in our inventory or does it just get used for this event?

Thank you!!

lol right? Me too. Could be a task to train them up to get the burning effect too -- I mean How to Train Your Dragon is totally a thing.

Plus, Mother of Dragons is a great title. ;)

1) Yep! Your staff stays at the same attack power. There are some monsters that make them half as effective or things like that, but those are the big bads. ;)

2) Yes, those are just for the event, but the gold or xp or potion tokens are for you to keep/apply to yourself.

Welcome :) This thread is a great place to start and there are even bits near the bottom where there are different takes on advice for what to start with.

Once you make your thread you can also look at some of the other people's threads to see how they set things up -- everyone does it a little differently, but you sort of find a way that works for you.

Feel free to ask any questions, most of us have asked them before probably, so we're here to help. :D

message 6547: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments I just put in a bazillion requests at the library (I'm not exaggerating that's the actual number). lol. I'm hopeful cover-wise that I have at least a couple book covers coming that will let me fill the rations on my end. Right now I have two with water here to read, but absolutely zero nature scenes. I have a crap ton of Reinforcement books though. It's always something. ;) haha.
