The book I'm trying to remember is a Fantasy children's book. Society is very classed based and based on whatever level of color you're in. The main character is a boy that is on the level Yellow. I believe it goes:

Top: Blue
Next: Green
Next: Yellow
Bottom: Red

Anyway, I think the boy is looking for his missing father. I think he has a mother and sister. He leaves his city and meets this girl in an outside society. I read this book many years ago. I was in grade school, I'm 26 now.
