You are awesome, thanks!

message 52: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I read a whole 12 pages yesterday.

Kelly Brown | 371 comments Hi! I started Karamo My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Purpose. I should be able to fit it in somewhere. Still reading Pretty Little Wife. I have added my totals for today.

Fair enough. Still feels like a cheat to me though, lol. To me, it makes the most sense to just count the total page count of the physical book, but I guess that could get complicated if the audio is listened to over a few days.

message 55: by Karissa (new)

Karissa | 440 comments I finished two books and added them to the spreadsheet. I put A Children's Bible to the football club finding missing children and Exciting Times to Irish people repaying debt.

message 56: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3271 comments 137 pages today. I updated the spreadsheet for today's total and added Saturday's, even though the number of pages feels really wrong to me since it was an audiobook.

I'm struggling to figure out where to fit either of the books I've finished so far.

message 57: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Good Morning Team Joy. I have 106 pages left on my book so will finish today. I haven’t looked at the articles to see what fits Inheritance A Memoir of Genealogy, Paternity,And Love by Dani Sharpiro. I figured I’ll look after I finish the book. My next read hasn’t come in from the library so I also need to figure that out too. It needs to be nonfiction for Nonfiction November.

lol Joan, that's how I felt earlier this week. I went a whole day on Thursday without a single page read or audiobook minute listened. Crazy.

I listened to... a lot... of my audiobook yesterday while I was cleaning and cooking for some friends who tested positive. Also read 149 of Gemina, which feels like cheating because some of the pages were just pictures of people and others had just 2 sentences on them, but hey, that's what I signed up for.

message 59: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Hi All, I finished Inheritance A Memoir of Genealogy,Paternity, and Love by Dani Shapiro. I put my pages read on the spreadsheet but couldn't find an article that worked. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank You.

message 60: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments Hey all, I finished Weather and filled it in for the NYC man writing letters to those feeling blue.

Maybe "98-Year-Old D-Day Veteran Recreates Photo With Belgian boy who Befriended Him During WWII" with the similar theme of researching to find people from past?

Or "Lonely Otter at Sanctuary Finds Love Through Online Dating Site Built Just For Him" because both titles have the word LOVE?

message 62: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Good Morning Team Joy. Thank You for your suggestions for the article. I used the photo recreation. My Overdrive book isn't in yet so I'm looking for a new read. Everyone be safe over the holiday.

Good morning Team Joy!

I stayed up way past my bedtime last night finishing Gemina and will use it for the letters article. And added 400+ pages to the spreadsheet for all my late night efforts lol.

Now to decide what tot pick up next... I need a break from space fiction before I go into Obsidio, so debating between The Library at Mount Char and House of Salt and Sorrows, for ATY, or maybe a side read with The Paris Wife or Ask Again, Yes. Decisions, decisions.

EDIT: Looks like the letters prompt was already used, so I'll have to dive into the articles and see where else I could fit this one.

That was me, I missed that you were aiming for this one. I can shift mine. There is a reasonable alternative.

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11197 comments Mod
Thanks Jen! Your book got lots of points in both categories so I'm glad you read it!

message 66: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Brown | 371 comments I burned through my audiobook Karamo yesterday, and I finished it today. I still have to find an article to match it with. Scribd then decided to cut me off from audiobooks for the rest of the month!!, so I signed up for Libby. I am now listening to Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling. I didn't get much work done because of this fiasco and most of my work was actually packing and shipping out my product. Tomorrow will probably be more of my physical book. I have updated my page counts.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!!

message 67: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3271 comments I didn't finish anything today, but I should be finishing off The Toll tomorrow and hopefully getting a start on something else too.

message 68: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Happy Thanksgiving Team Joy. I finally picked a book to read yesterday. Walt Whitman In Washington D.C. The Civil War and Great American Poet by Garrett Peck. I only have 147 pages left so I may finish today.

message 69: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Peterson | 700 comments Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I finished People of the Book last night, so I'm about to go find a place for it. I think I might finish One Hundred Years of Solitude today, too.

message 70: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments Emily wrote: "Thanks Jen! Your book got lots of points in both categories so I'm glad you read it!"

It was quirky but I enjoyed it and I think I got more points with the new category so thanks for the "push"!

message 71: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments Happy Thanksgiving all!

I finished Princess of Midnight: A Retelling of Cinderella which is a Cinderella retelling and matched it with the lonely otter article.

Is it too much of a stretch to match Pumpkin the otter with the heavy pumpkin presence in the book for the Names category? There was the pumpkin carriage and someone dressing up with a pumpkin on his head.

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I hope I didn't mess anything up but I was off on my page count and it wasn't adding up to where I was. I read 151 pages on the first day and not 144. I should be able to complete this book today. Sadly one day I only read 7 pages. I thought I read a ton yesterday but it was only 36 pages. The book is actually really good. Work was just a little more intense than I expected.

I'm still not sure where to slot this book.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!

message 73: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11197 comments Mod
Jen, I would say that would be more of an object thing than a name? Since it's an object in the book.

Joan, you did not mess anything up!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Finished another book! House of Salt and Sorrows... who even am I?! I am certainly not used to being the person who contributes this many books to a read-a-thon lol.

I put it under the children's pockets prompt because there were seashells in the kids' pockets and the book takes place by the sea. No idea what I'm going to pick up next... I have only two left for ATY, but I'm not keen on finishing a month early, so I may pick up something else.

You are dominating this read-a-thon! Great to have you on this team and hope you are enjoying your reads!

message 76: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3271 comments I finished off The Toll and started on You Say It First. No idea where to fit The Toll yet. I'll have to take a closer look tomorrow.

message 77: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Good Morning Team Joy. I should finish the Walt Whitman book today. I’m going to start decorating for Christmas. Also my husband & I am doing our Thanksgiving today so I have some cooking to do. I also don’t know what I’m reading after this.

message 78: by Joan (last edited Nov 27, 2020 07:06AM) (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments Ok - I completed Dorothy Must Die. I was thinking about slotting it in the prosthetic arm category. Amy the main character in the book her hand generates an automatic knife with magic when she needs it. Will that work? And the person in the story is a girl teen and the main character is a girl teen.

Also the girl in the story is from Missouri and the main character is from Kansas - both midwest states. Will that count?

message 79: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11197 comments Mod
I think it would totally count for the prosthetic arm prompt. I don't know if I'd count the midwest state though.

message 80: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments I finished Walt Whitman in Washington,D.C.: The Civil War and America's Great Poet by Garrett Peck. I used it for Artist paints flowers for Brooklyn Hospital. Walt Whitman lived in Brooklyn for many years. He visited often during the Civil War when he lived in D.C. He visited vets in Brooklyn hospitals bringing them supplies.

message 81: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments Just finished The Lady from the Black Lagoon: Hollywood Monsters and the Lost Legacy of Milicent Patrick and used it for the Germany gender equality article. It is a fascinating biography of the first female monster creator in Hollywood with ties to the monster/ horror film genre and sexism today.

message 82: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Brown | 371 comments Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Mine was busy, but great. I didn't get much reading done, but I did get a little bit, which I logged. I still have to log my finished book. Today was busy with Black Friday too, but I got listening in. Tomorrow I hope to get more listening in also. Time is just flying!

message 83: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I listed Dorothy Must Die in the spot.

message 84: by Rachel (last edited Nov 27, 2020 09:51PM) (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3271 comments I didn't finish off You Say It First like I expected today, but only because I finally got bookshelves and spent the majority of my time after work reorganizing everything, so worth it anyway.

I still have no idea where to put The Toll on the spreadsheet. I'm thinking either Beethoven to the Deaf (because of the focus on sound), or the First US Woman to Walk in Space (the article mentions deep water and outer space, both of which are involved in the book), but I have no idea which is a better fit. Suggestions, anyone?

message 85: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Good Morning Team Joy. I don’t have anything to do today except read, decorate, work on my Christmas jigsaw puzzle. I’m starting One Of Us Is Lying (One Of Us Is Lying #1) by Karen M. McManus.

message 86: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11197 comments Mod
Good morning Team Joy!

I ended up spending a large chunk of my afternoon yesterday scrubbing the grout on my tile floors in the kitchen, so I didn't get much reading done, outside of listening to an audiobook while I worked. I'm going to try to read more this afternoon, so hopefully my page count gets a bit higher today than it did yesterday!

Hope you all have a great Saturday!

message 87: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3271 comments I finished off You Say It First and added it for the article about the third grader making protest signs for George Floyd. It's a bit of a stretch, maybe, but the book involves the idea of young people engaging in politics, and I think that fit the article.

Still not sure where to put The Toll from yesterday! I'm hoping to finish off one more book tomorrow too, if I can. I may even get a start on a second one, but I doubt I'll finish it in time to include it too.

message 88: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Good morning Team Joy. I'm always sad when a read-a-thon is over. I've enjoyed reading with all of you. I just put my pages read yesterday on the spread sheet. I really like One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus. I doubt I'll finish today. I have 208 pages left. The book is Breakfast club meets Pretty Little liars. The theme music for Breakfast club keeps running through my head as I read the book.

message 89: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11197 comments Mod
I really liked One of Us Is Lying, Sherri. I think it was a fun take on a YA mystery.

I have a pretty busy day ahead so I don't know that I'll get to much reading today, but it has been fun being on this team and getting some books read!

message 90: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Brown | 371 comments I went ahead and put my book in finally! I also added my page counts up until today. I have a busy day today too, but that means lots of audio listening! I will come back and fill in that total tonight. Maybe we will get another wildcard? Hope everyone has a good Sunday!

message 91: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I think I'll be able to complete The Wicked Will Rise today as well as a graphic novel.

message 92: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments I finished The King of Crows last night and added it for the endangered woodpecker article. I added my pages so far for the day but can add more later.

message 93: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments I finished One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus. I really liked it. I couldn't find an article to match it to. Any Suggestions?

message 94: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I finished The Wicked Will Rise. I added it to the spreadsheet to the Army Veteran that had amputated legs. In the book the Flying monkeys had to have their wings amputated to not be under Dorothy's control.

message 95: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3271 comments Not a great reading day today. I only read 79 pages in total and didn't finish anything. I ended up putting The Toll in for the article about the country missing from Google maps, because in the book there were areas that the Thunderhead was blind too. Probably not the best fit, but I was having trouble figuring out where else to place it.

message 96: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Peterson | 700 comments I read a lot yesterday and finished Sula, but I wasn't sure where to put it. It's about Black characters and written by a Black author, so I feel like I should put it somewhere to get own voices points! Emily, could you maybe add another line under the protest sign story?
