Winter20 Read-a-Thon: Team Hope
I finished Alexander Hamilton last night. I think we could use it towards one of the articles related to the US/New York (maybe the one with the letters), or maybe the one related to immigrants. What do you all think?

I'm hoping to finish The Magpie Society: One for Sorrow tonight. Birds crop up a lot in the book and are on the cover so fine for object for bird-friendly turbines, but do you think it also works for title since magpies are a bird?

I don't know, the article does mention he also mapped other African countries but I'm not sure I'd include Nigeria among "Africa’s techno-neglected countries".
What about using it for "brave hospital staff" they work in a hospital don't they?

Also, I was hoping to use that article for The Silk Roads: A New History of the World (which I started before the readalong), on the basis that "street" and "road" are close enough to count as a title connection and they also have similar themes of drawing attention to neglected parts of the world. Feel free to disagree though, I'm sure I can find somewhere else to put it.

Good evening! Any creative ideas for The Silver Chair (Narnia)? I haven’t found any articles with matching names (Jill, Eustace) which I was hoping for. I am close to finishing it, but so far no hit for the articles.

@Ellie, I can't really find anything for Silver Chair either. Except maybe - is the school they attend mentioned in the beginning? Then there is a couple of school connections (at least the one with the sign).

I had another one for Zimbabwe that's a bit farfetched, so I think we should go with yours.
The Rage of Dragons that i started yesterday, is inspired by Xhosa culture and has Xhosa terms in it. Xhosa is one of the languages (and people's) of Zimbabwe, but it's a fantasy world, Zimbabwe is not mentioned, and has no connection to streets or anything.
And a little anecdote: I used to live in Harare, Zimbabwe in my teens, and a couple of years ago I tried to find my neighbourhood on Google street view - nothing. Only a faraway grainy satellite photo. So I know the feeling ...
... I just tried again, nothing of our old house, but there are street views in the area. Trip down memory lane!

I haven't read it since I was a kid and I can't remember what happens in each book, but lots of the Narnia books have general themes around human destroying stuff and nature (the talking animals) fighting back, which could link with the "woodpeckers making a comeback after forest fires" article.
Or there's the article about the emoji for forgiveness which would link with some of the Christian allegories in all the Narnia books.

I got sent the sequel to The Rage of Dragons recently, haven't read the first book but think I got sent a copy and didn't actually look to see what it was about at the time...so now I fancy reading it I've no idea if I still have that review copy lying around...Not being able to drop books off at the charity shop this year has meant my shelves have got out of control.
Just starting The Dark Archive now, it should work for the bookshop one but I'll keep an eye out for other links.
I added Alexander Hamilton to the article "Teacher becomes a US citizen" as it matches the theme (immigration) and the location (US). Hopefully I filled in the spreadsheet correctly!
I've finished Fledgling and have added it to the spreadsheet. Will start The Only Good Indians tomorrow for the prompt about the donation to the Navajo people.I'm almost done with Silk Roads - only 2 hours left of the 24.5 hour audiobook!

I just finished a comic / graphic novel about two boys who are friends and all their shenanigans. Would work for the lottery winners (theme: friendship) and the one where he takes his grandfather for a trip (there's a grandfather in it). It feels most in the vein of the story to choose the lottery friends one, so I'll put it down for that. If someone else is working on that, we can always move it.
Tomorrow I'm going to read Locke & Key, and their house is by the sea. Could we use that for beach house? Is anyone else working on it?
I finally finished a real book (not just the 71 page one.) I took the bookstore article. I might be able to slot it somewhere else if anyone wanted that one.

I finished Eifel Gold and I'll add it for "Pet detective"The MC is a journalist-turned-detective and also his cat is lost for a couple of days, so I think it fits for theme at least
So now I'm reading Britt-Marie Was Here, which will work for prompt 22 (number connection, 38 chapters) if that one is not used by the time I finish the book. Maybe forgiveness could be another connection, not sure
The other book I'm starting is My Twenty-Five Years in Provence: Reflections on Then and Now, which could work for prompt 10 (another number connection, 21 chapters) if I don't find something else
I'm really hoping to finish Always and Forever, Lara Jean on audio today...or if not definitely tomorrow. I'm still confused about how we link to the articles to be honest...but have gone through the spreadsheet to look at the connections and found 1 with the name Kitty - number 47 - ban dog breen discrimination - Lara Jean's sister is called Kitty (and is a pretty major character)...could that count?

I just finished In Five Years and absolutely loved it. It got me in all the feels so hopefully doesn't send me into a book hangover. I've added it to the renovation one but it could also work for the otter love one if we need to shift it.

I know they date locked it to stop people playing it in advance, but I think you can still go back to it, just change the system date on your switch and restart the game. I completely missed the maple leaves so might go back and try and get some before the snow comes. I don't like time travelling too much but sometimes it's just hard to fit it in with life (and I never skip forwards).
I got a Switch a few weeks ago on an early black friday sale so now I just need to get Animal Crossing :D

So another question...could I count it as own voices as Lara Jean (the main character), Kitty and Margo (her sisters) are Korean (half-Korean) living in America and the author Jenny Han is an Korean-American (born and raised Virginia to Korean parents). Or no?

I am currently juggling three books, and have only a few chapters left in all of them, so I probably finish them off during the weekend. It's The Silver Chair, Northanger Abbey & The Blind Owl). Northanger Abbey is a readalong over at Litsy though with a chapter a day, so that will last until Sunday unless I cave in and read the remaining few chapters tomorrow :)

The "own voices" book has to be directly connected to the group that is featured in the story. For example, the Utah story is about LGBTQIA+ rights and the book (Autoboyography) is an "own voices" book for the same group. It also happens to be set in Utah (score!)
