Let's imagine characters from different books facing off!

Well, said Cat as she kicked off her heels and polished her cutlass. I could rest awhile, prepare for battle, and wait for The Sentinel to arrive, or slink down that really dark alley and hope she doesn't find me. She considered the painful blisters on her feet, gasped again when she checked out her hair in the mirrored sword and said, Alley it is!
Amanda ran and ran until she was gasping for breath and could run no longer. Dammit! she said. I really need to work out more. She pushed her psychic powers into the universe until she felt the Siren's call.
Ha! she said. I've got you now, my pretty. I'll show you what happens when you try to steal my fiance! She gathered up the multi-layered skirts of her wedding dress, tucked them into her Sentinel 10 Utility/Chastity Belt, and ran down the alley to rescue her possibly (but hasn't quite decided yet until she checks out his financial portfolio) fated mate, Matt.
Sapphire Flame, a Hidden Legacy novel by Ilona Andrews versus The Diamond Rose, a Sentinel 10 novel by yours truly Daniela Valenti. Catalina Prime Siren and Amanda The Sentinel 10.
First of all, why would they fight each other? It wouldn’t happen. They’re both nice young women. I mean, I’d certainly fight Ilona Andrews any day, but… I’m joking!!! I am channeling my jocular character, Matt Chadwick. Moving on. (I would win😈😁 )
In the purple corner, we have the defending champion, Catalina.
Catalina Baylor is 21 years old, dark haired. She’s what the Hidden Legacy series refers to as a Siren Prime, someone with the supreme ability to seduce people at will. There are other types of Primes with other abilities.
In the blue corner, the challenger: Amanda Griffith, 25 years old, platinum blonde. She is the Sentinel 10, which means she has extreme psychic powers that enable her to condense psychic energy into an almost physical, usable form. In simpler terms, she shoots invisible ectoplasma out of her hands.
So let’s imagine that a conniving villain has devised a plan to make our lovelies believe they need to fight each other. Catalina believes she needs to get past Amanda, and Amanda thinks Catalina is out to seduce her boyfriend. KIDDING! Matt, go away.
So Catalina walks into a dark alley, in her evening dress, her cutlass in hand. Amanda’s at the other end of it, in her wedding dress, demanding to know what Catalina has done with her fiancé…Argh! Matt is out of control right now, I can’t help it.
Whatever the circumstances, they are about to collide. So let’s review their respective powers.
When Catalina releases her powers of the Siren, she unfolds her translucent, mesmerizing wings. Now, the question is, are Sentinels susceptible to such a power? The Sentinel 10 is immune to magic. It is clearly stated in Book 3 of the series. Lower level Sentinels are variably susceptible, but not Sentinels level 6 and above.
So if Catalina’s power is akin to magic, Amanda will look at her wings with a measure of irritation and just zap her with a psychic pulse. End of story.
But maybe Catalina’s power is different. Later in the Sentinel 10 series, Amanda encounters Incubi, and she isn’t a hundred percent immune to their abilities. So as the Prime Siren calls out to her, Amanda begins to listen with rapt attention. She comes closer and sits on her heels, as instructed.
But here’s a caveat: Amanda’s reaction to the Incubus changes with time. Within minutes, she becomes immune. The same thing may happen here. So Catalina needs to get out there, pronto 😁
