This is where we will be discussion the book prior to the group read. If you're excited for the book let us know! Have you read it before or is it your first time?

Surabhi Diwan | 349 comments hey Winter!!! I have read the book before. in the beginning, I thought I could not connect.. probably because of the way it is written, or maybe it was not my type hai of book. but gradually when the chapters kept following I fell in love with Ove.
needless to say, I cried when the book ended. and as it has been mentioned in the review of the book, we are all like Ove somewhere or the other..that's exactly when I knew I connected to the book ! Happy Reading :)

Alyana | 1201 comments Hi Winter! This would be my first time to read the book. I have read three novels of Backman this year and I love all of them!

Surabhi Diwan | 349 comments Hey Alyana and Sunshine! let me know how did you guys find the book? In the meanwhile I would reading another book by Backman - Anxious People!

message 5: by Heather (new)

Heather Dufield | 94 comments I just finished reading this a couple of books ago. At first I didn't like the main character, but he sort of grows on you. The story kind of reminds me of the movie UP. It was a sad story, but also had some funny moments. I've read 3 of Backman's books this year and I've like all of them.

Alyana | 1201 comments Hi Surabhi! Yes I will surely post updates as I read the book. Anxious people is one of the best for me this year, it's so funny!

Christina L. | 50 comments I read this last year and truly enjoyed it. Like Heather posted, the main character was hard to like but he definitely grew on me as the story went on...enjoy!

Sara. [Mares de Páginas] (maresdepaginas) I read My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises from Fredrik and I loved it! I'm looking forward to read this one - I already started the book and Ove seems to be a grumpy-sarcastic-funny old man!

I also have Anxious People in my to-buy list!

Jeanna Morgan (jeanna4m) | 5 comments This is my first Backman book. I have heard of this book for years and have never read it. Hope it lives up to the hype.

message 18: by Manda (new)

Manda | 85 comments I watched the Swedish film a few years ago (not knowing it was a book) and loved it! I’m now half way the audiobook and enjoy the story a lot.
I hope the American film version will do justice to it.

Also finished Anxious people by Backman yesterday and just LOVED it. Can’t wait to read his other books.

Elina van der Toorn (elinavdt) | 26 comments Looks like a book, that will affect me and bring some tears to my eyes. Would be good to balance out all those detectives I've read recently :)

Jeanna Morgan (jeanna4m) | 5 comments Got to tell something funny. I saw this was Decembers read I went to Amazon to order it. But I left it there in my cart. I done some other things and looked around at one of my book shelves and there it was. It was a used copy I had picked up somewhere for 50 cents. It had been a little wet but no biggie. The next day I went by another shelf and low and behold there was another copy. Again 50 cents but in much better condition. So I must have been destined to read it😂.

I read A Man Called Ove a couple of years ago, for my in-person book club. This was the first book I'd read by the author, and I became connected to Ove (and the book) pretty quickly. It will fill you with so many emotions and thoughts. I plan to read it again for this month's Read!

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I read this book not long ago, and it was really enjoyable. Ove is such a grumpy old guy, you can't help but love him! At times I was laughing out loud, he was such an amusing character.

message 26: by Niyah (new)

Niyah (curlynerd) | 40 comments Haven't read it before or any other books by this author but I'm excited to start it! Sounds promising from the summary and these prereviews from the rereaders.
