Ateliana, is this book for kids, teens or adults? How old is the girl?
I added some details to the header/topic title at the top of the page, so your book might be recognized from that description alone. Many members only read the headers.

I think it was a NZ or Australian based book because I remember seeing a NZ city in the book where the main character lived. The book starts off with a young girl who is unpleased with her mother and they get into an argument which leads the girl to run up a hill and ultimately crash down. She then goes into a coma in the real life but while in her coma she wakes up in another time setting, possibly travelling back in time (something like the early 40s etc). The book focuses on her new life in the time setting she is in and adapting to her new life, she meets a girl named Margaret and they become best friends. I can't remember how long she lives there for but I do remember that at the end, her and Margaret try to run away on a boat (in a river, I think) for some reason I can't remember but the currents were too strong and they both got thrown off the boat and drift apart. She wakes up from her coma after "dying" in her other life and remembers how realistic it felt despite "knowing" it was dream. After she recovers from her coma, I think she goes back to living her normal life but the realistic feeling of her dream made her wonder if it was dream. She ends up travelling to the location where her "dream" happened and everything just felt like dejavu then she goes to a cemetery where she finds the tombstone of Margaret, her dream and on the tombstone it says that she drowned in the river with her friend, whos body was never recovered. It ends with her realizing that the "dream" was actually real.
I remember crying my eyes out and how much I loved the book but sadly I had never seen it again. Its been 10 years since I read it and I can never forget it so it would be amazing if someone else thinks this book is familiar.
