Jon Hollihan | 47 comments Goodreads has 3 versions of The Tamarack Tree that appear to be the same edition?

The Tamarack Tree by Howard Breslin [ISBN 9781125611616]
Whittlesey House, McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1947 Hardcover

One book pic of Dust Jacket, one of Hardcover, and third one blank (no image) - of the same 1947 book edition?

Additionally, all editions have the wrong Page number count, too.
Should be 438 pages, not 378.

I removed the duplicate. Often books from that time period that have the identical cover and publisher may be book club editions that have a different number of pages. [I own several from that era. they don't always identify as book club] Does the edition you have show any multiple printing or editions on the copyright page?

Jon Hollihan | 47 comments No, there’s no additional comments on the copyright page to indicate a different version (book club, etc.). Also, nothing on the dust jacket.

Thanks for your comment & attention to this post.

Sincerely,
Jon H

Jon Hollihan | 47 comments Correction - comment on copyright page:

"Second Printing Before Publication"

No indication of a First Edition or Book Club Edition.
Copyright 1947

In the mid century printings, the book club edition don't always say that they are. But often the lack of printing history indicates that it is a book club. Worldcat has 378 pages. So it's possible that edition may be the book club edition. I'm just trying to decide whether to make a different edition, rather than change this one. Can you provide a cover for the edition you have? [scanned or photo?]

Jon Hollihan | 47 comments Yes, four photos posted under My Profile Photos.

Not sure of any other way to send photos to you. Please advise, if needed.

this is really helpful. Since you have the dust jacket, is there a price on the inside flap? That's the biggest indicator of book club vs retail. I'm doing a little reading about this author's publication history. Just educating myself.

Jon Hollihan | 47 comments Yes, there’s a price in the corner of the back inside of the dust jacket.

Kinda clever - the corner has a dashed line (to scissor/clip) with book title, author, publisher & price ($3.00)
