Fishface | 18932 comments This one is due out April 6th, 2021, and even if it turns out to be terrible I am THRILLED. The only previous source I have had to learn about this hideous Metro Detroit murder were the documentaries WHO KILLED VINCENT CHIN? and VINCENT WHO?

I watched that. I had to special order it and go to the library and watch it on an old movie projector that an employee had to set up for me.

Fishface | 18932 comments Wow! I saw it on an ancient, crumbling videotape via inter-library loan. You can get it new on DVD if you don't mind spending nearly $500 for the privilege.

Hari Brandl (crochetbuddies) | 649 comments You don't need cable. There are many platforms for streaming everything on line. I haven't had a TV for decades, and when I go out to a place with TVs I am always glad I gave up TV. I hate the ads. they are stupid, intrusive, and repetitive. AND misleading (read lies).

Yeah, when I cancelled my cable they convinced me to sign up with streaming services. Can watch shows and I'm saving almost $200 a month.

Fishface | 18932 comments But streaming services cost something too, correct? (I haven't watched TV in something like 20 years.)

Yes, but not as much as cable. Brit Box, for example, is very inexpensive. As long as you don't go crazy and subscribe to too many you can save money. And there are frequent offerings of a free month, or free seven days, etc., and if you keep track and cancel before the charges start, you can enjoy a lot of what the platform has to offer. I try to avoid renting or buying the shows. There's so much free I'm never at a loss for what to watch.

My internet company offers TV services for about $15 a month I think? So yes, costs something but a lot less than cable.

What is TV service?
Does it have all the advertisements like real TV? Do you get to choose what ... channels?... are at your disposal? Streaming platforms? News channels?

I honestly don't know. I think I have a choice, it's about 40 channels, no HBO or Showtime etc but ID and Nickolodian and some movie channels. I don't watch TV, I only got it so I could get a second cell phone for $20 for work.
