What were your first impressions and observations about the abductor? How did they help you hone in on and eliminate possible suspects?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I figured the abductor had a job. He would leave Chelsea for hours, so he was probably working. But since all of my suspects had jobs, that didn't help. Other than that, I can't think of any of his actions that eliminated other suspects.

I had a long list of potential suspects but his assertiveness only eliminated Kirk. He’d never have the courage to interact with Chelsea this way. Other than that, no one else was eliminated.

I also thought the abductor was sexist, which could have eliminated Elliot given who his wife had been.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Good point, Jonetta. He was sexist.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments The opening chapter is very misleading because the POV in that chapter is not Derek Pagano. The chapter describes someone burying a body, probably Sarah Bernard even though this is never confirmed. Thus, that POV is either Harold Burns or his brother Jerry.

In the long run, it has no effect on the narrowing down of suspects because of this. Again, these types of discrepancies are an issue that I have with Leigh's writing.

With regard to the actual abductor's POV, it helped me narrow down the suspects to Elliot Pagano and Curtis MacDonald. It had to be someone who knew Chelsea personally and was also capable of planning the abduction. This ruled Kirk out. I also never thought Harold Burns had taken Chelsea because he is not the kind of man who would love a woman so much he wanted to own her.

Derek is such a minor character that I forgot all about him.

Actually, it is Elliot's wife's death that put him on my radar. I wasn't surprised to learn that he was an accomplice after the fact.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I thought that this was not his first time trying to "tame" a blonde.
I guess the first scene bled over into Chelsea's container scene, so
I missed it at first.

I did not believe that the Burns brothers were involved with Chelsea, though, so I knew we had another villain.
