-and I like your PP headpiece-LoL at first I was wonder "what the heck is she wearing"

But I'm also not a planner. I have a massive owned TBR - print and ebook. And they are extremely eclectic. I have no trouble just plucking books off the towers to read and figuring out what prompts or themes they fit. Far too much of my life and work are planned and scheduled. Reading is absolutely NOT! Mostly.
Popsugar is not announcing it's 2021 challenge until December 1. Just in case someone else besides me likes that one.

LOL! Nice!

I do look forward to new challenges too. But, the last couple of years, I haven’t really been into challenges. I don’t know if I will be into one next year either. My depression is still so up and down right now that I have a hard time preparing for anything. But I still like to see what’s coming.

Jenni,
As BC so correctly says, we value you being here whether or not you partake of the challenges! So NO PRESSURE. I'm sorry about your depression, and I hope you feel better sooner rather than later . . .but again, please feel free to hang out and just enjoy whatever it is you like most at PBT.

So glad you found some worthwhile reads through our membership. We have some extremely well read members. (Sadly, I'm not really one of them, lol).

Oh the gems I have read...or even reread like the Rebecca buddy read this month ... because of this group!

Yes, that is why I love this group. This group is the best. I love it as much as I love my IRL book club.

I love the planning phase. I generally only plan for part of my year in reading so I also have plenty of flexibility.

We are looking forward to revealing them! Just a few more weeks...

Oh Anita, stop that silliness, this year has been rough on everyone-you will get your mojo back ;)

Mods deserve some time off too! It looks like you are still doing "recount" - that is, clarifying any tags you can't find - from this year.

I don't do the challenges here every year, either. I took 2019 off. I don't like to do ones where I have to make a shelf and get random picks because I might not be in the mood to read a book then or something. I broke my mood reading attitude for this last game, but may go back to that.

I loved that the challenges weren't tied to a specific month this year. The 2019 challenges would have been impossible for some of us in 2020, with the library closings. (Did they have a crystal ball to know something strange was coming?) I think we'll need the extra lead time and flexibility in 2021 too. I look forward to seeing what they come up with to challenge us.

Well that turned out to be a great decision for you! Didn't you already get two bingos?

Same here. I was going to not get too involved and just read for fun. And then I tried to compete with two heavy readers where one is retired and the other is single. In the midst of that we had a bunch of stuff come up in June so that I had almost no reading time for while, etc.
That said, I had a lot of fun with Jade Dragons!!!

Joy, I have a feeling that the Bingo Fairy (who can fly so high, she doesn't have to worry about travel restrictions) will scatter a few extra bingo numbers for Thanksgiving and other holidays. She knows that we all need a distraction from all the people, family gatherings, parties, trips, and events we are missing this year.

I enjoyed the Poll Ballot Tally challenge. The level of excitement, humor, and dedication of my Jade Dragon teammates was off the charts! I am by nature not a super-competitive person and more of a tortoise than a hare when it comes to races of any sort, but I felt satisfied with my contribution to the team, if a little out of the loop at times because I would have waves of busy-ness at work and not be able to check in as often as I would have liked.
I've also been enjoying the bingo game. I'm one away from a BINGO on my card in two different spots, but I haven't been keeping up on the reading, so I need to get on that in case one of my missing numbers is called.
Speaking of the love of planning, when the last bingo number was called, I thoroughly enjoyed looking up the books published that year, making note of a couple of them, checking my shelves to find them, and pulling one and setting it on my TBR pile. Then I realized I hadn't checked to see if I had that year on my bingo card -- I didn't! But I wasn't even sorry, because I enjoy that process, and I may even go ahead and read that book anyway (it was Virgin in the Garden by A.S. Byatt, in case anyone is curious.)
I look forward to seeing what potential challenges the PBT mods come up with for the coming year. It's always fun.

Oh, that made me laugh! Been there, done that. I put together a "scavenger hunt" challenge in another group where I am the moderator. Participants have to find the word(s) or phrase(s) in the text of the book they are reading, and cite the quote. Anyway ...one time the target word was "yurt" .... I listen to lots of audio books and got all excited when I heard "yurt" ... searched for a piece of paper so I could jot it down... Then I realized I was listening to the television in the background and I had heard the word used in a commercial.... S*I*G*H

I will look forward to seeing what the Bingo Fairy brings, :-)
I have to admit that these challenges are appealing to many people. For some, having the books scattered is probably more of an advantage than a disadvantage.

LOL!

ROFL! I needed a good laugh!

This is so lovely! I am so glad you enjoy the challenges so much! I am like you though, I like the plan more than I like to follow through! lol
