It has been said that the character of Gatsby is based loosely off Trimalchio from Petronius' "The Satyricon." Has anyone else noticed this, and in what ways are these characters the same? Some of the imagery in the book is also based on Vergil's "The Aeneid." Where in the book does this imagery appear, and how does it play into Gatsby's life? I ave some ideas in this topic, if anyone wants to discuss.
