Stephan Rogers | 3 comments I believe this was read around 1985 (thereabouts). A story opens with a wizard destroying a town. A boy's family is killed and the wizard is specifically hunting him down. Something about the boy being destined to destroy said mage or something like that. The boy runs and hides in an abandoned castle and accidentally falls INTO a tapestry that leads to a pocket dimension. There he finds a woman who is immortal or something and she teaches him magic (he learns on his own. I think there's a huge magic library or something like that). I remember there were cows that were GROWN from the ground like plants OR maybe it was cow shanks or just beef that grew from the ground like plants. Eventually he becomes an accomplished wizard and the immortal woman becomes his girlfriend. Fast forward to the end, he kills the bad wizard or defeats him and for some reason finds another girlfriend---maybe from his childhood---and she comes into the pocket dimension as well and then he has the two of them and I'm not sure if you get to live forever just because you live in that pocket dimension. That's the end of the book. I have NO idea what it's called or who wrote it and I haven't been able to find it online at all. Can anyone help me? Is anyone familiar with this book?

Stephan, that's a good start, but we need more information in the header at the top of the page. Many members only read the headers. We have thousands of book requests, so threads with vague headers are closed.

Copy the genre (e.g., ... for teens or adults?) and more plot details from your message #1 to the header by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, there's a "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.) -- I added a spoiler alert to the header.

Stephan Rogers | 3 comments Thanks, Kris. How is it now?

Great. Thanks for updating the header. This will help searchers and moderators.

* with a wizard destroying a town (MC accidentally destroys his dead master's hut and inheritance with the only spell he was taught / town destroyed ages ago by wizardly duel which grounded the flying castle)
* abandoned castle
* accidentally falls INTO a tapestry that leads to a pocket dimension
* finds a woman who is immortal (witch (unable to use wizardly magic), who had wizardly immortality from prior creator of un-flying castle/pocket dimension)
* he learns [wizardry magic] on his own (from spellbook)
* huge magic library (one master wizard's spellbook - which has the immortality spell used on the witch)
* cow shanks or just beef that grew from the ground like plants
* Eventually he becomes an accomplished wizard (well, better than he was - and better than many/most in the world; still unable to cast immortality spell - but attempting to 'git gud')
* woman becomes his girlfriend (wife)
* finds another girlfriend (required to marry princess, as part of quest)
* she comes into the pocket dimension as well and then he has the two of them (they commute between pocket dimension & princess' in-laws' ramshackle castle/kingdom)

Stephan Rogers | 3 comments THIS IS IT!!! YES!! You're the best!

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments You can mark the request as solved by clicking the 'edit' link next to the subject line / title, and then selecting one of the "Solved" folders. This will help save our moderators some time.

You should also change the subject line / title to start "SOLVED: [then your existing subject line/title of your post]" which helps people still find your request later.

Solved requests are almost as important as unsolved requests (eg, eg, so don't delete your info :D Otherwise it looks like this, which completely doesn't show how you generated *so* much interest for your book). The requests continue to exist in the archive, and people looking for your book end up on that page via search engine because of your description/keywords - which improves the whole world :)
