SOLVED. YA Novel series - really dumb space cadet kids

A group of young training space cadets, all misfits, and pretty dumb. It was a silly book - I think they had a hero like leader but everyone else was a failure in some way. In true YA, they always found a way to come out on top. There were multiple books in this series if I recall.
