Book Reader | 3 comments I read this book around five years ago, and now it came to my mind. I'll proceed to write down every detail in the story that I can remember, so if you don't want spoilers, don't keep reading.

The story is about a boy that is in some kind of rehabilitation center. He lives in a facility with other people in need of rehabilitation. He has memory loss and can't quite remember how he got there in the first place. The reason is, he has a past that he can't stand to think of, and thus he has somehow forced himself to forget about it. He works on this topic with his therapist and develops a bond with an older man who happens to be a writer. This man has been in the rehabilitation center for a while now, and I think he likes to tell stories (would make sense, since he is a writer). He is one of the few, if not the only person MC can stand.

As the story develops, we learn that the protagonist had a terrible past that revolved around his family, which consists of a mother, a father and an older brother. I believe his mother was absent and depressed, and his father had problems with alcohol. Either the MC or his brother had anger management issues, and in one of his memories the protagonist is seen breaking a car's windows with a weapon of some kind out of rage. He talks about parts of this with his therapist, although he doesn't really like him that much.

There was another man in the rehabilitation center which couldn't be rehabilitated and one day just left. His nickname was Shark related, although I may be wrong. I don't remember many other details. It is known later in the story that the writer had killed his daughter by accident while driving the car in a drunk state, and that's why he had refused to talk about it in the first half of the book. He felt incredibly guilty, and has been working on his addiction ever since. At the end, it turns out the MC's family is dead, and that his aunt paid for his stay at the rehabilitation center, knowing he wouldn't remember.

If this makes any sense to you, or you feel like you may recognize the plot and put a name to the story, I will be incredibly grateful. Thank you in advance for your time and attention.
