The book I am looking for i read a while back. The premise was a back and forth 2 person story where a girl was dumped in the woods a younger kid by someone who tried to kill her. She survived and hides in the forest, fearing that the killer will find her and finish the job. A hiker/photographer gets injured, and she helps him out. The store goes back and forth between them, them learning about each other as he heals. Then he tries to coax her back into the real world, and eventually does. But the killer gets wind that she is back, and he goes after her again.

there was a bit of romance, some self discovery, some crime, Genre was Young adult

as for story time period, it was modern day, as it had cell phones and such. As for location it was in the US somewhere.
