Welcome to the A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on November 16th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

I barely started and I'm so excited and happy for everything!

Chapter 1 Well damn.. I did not expect him to rip someones heart out.. quite literally.

I obviously just continued reading because it's so easy to listen to, and it's so fun.

Yes, she does, but on the other hand.. it's understandable she doesn't believe him, I mean he lied to her, and basically that's all everyone did to her they lied, so I understand why she doesn't believe ANYTHING and is in denial 😂

Hi guys! I hope it's ok if I join this discussion, I just finished chapter 19. I wanted to follow the schedule, but one cannot simply stop after ending of chapter 14. I just adore the characters, but am still suspicious about the Dark One. (view spoiler)[ The scene in the pantry had me going from cracking up to daaaaaamnnnn. I'm currently at 54% and I'm definitely going for 60% because Selina wants to talk about something that happened, but maybe I'll push for more. I'm enjoying this more than King of Crows.

* Is it only me or do you guys also feel weird when she, and others for that matter, call him Casteel? I was so used to Hawke that Casteel sounds a bit weird.

* I like Poppy's and Kieran's developing friendship, and the fact that she asks SO MANY questions 😂 But also, it's a good way to give the reader information about the world and the customs without the massive info dump. three

* Miss Willa's Diary 😂😂 Like, do I need to say more. I'm just dying whenever it's mentioned.

Chapter 31(view spoiler)[Great, she finally acknowledges that whatever is happening between them IS real. It took more than half of the book but she got there 😂 Surprisingly, I wasn't annoyed by that, I guess I was distracted by other things.

I think that I need more knowledge of the Atlantian gods to understand what the hell.. I'm glad the next book, and the last?, is coming out in April and not at the end of the next year.

Yeah, and I saw a 2 or 1 star review of book one that said now fantasy is following in SJM's footsteps and I was 😱 it really does, and it wasn't the first time I saw that being said. Someone mentioned it for Honey and Blood, and while here I approve the B&H was 😬 for me because it didn't give me SJM vibes.

I read it, I wanted and expected more 😂 but it's a novella and I saw what has happened in the book so I don't know why I expected something more.

But I was shocked by something 🙈 Kieran appears in those first few chapters and I don't remember him. I remember someone knocked on the door and interrupted them but I thought that's some random dude so I didn't remember him, and when he appeared when they were going to the capital I thought that's the first time we meet him 🙈🙈

I love that it's a fantasy with erotica rather than erotica that has fantasy. I need more books like this! I'll be disappointed if nothing happens 😭 but also I'm enjoying this series that much that I wouldn't be that angry.. just very disappointed.

And yes! We'll buddy read it when it gets out. But maybe not immediately 😂 because I like the audiobooks and also I think it would've taken me more than 3 days to finish it otherwise.

I'll be joining in for the 3rd one 😂 I'm on a bit of a goodreads slump so mina just had to endure my texts of me just screaming a lot of times (especially for That Scene) but hopefully by then I'll be back on track here lol.

also mina when you say "I love that it's a fantasy with erotica rather than erotica that has fantasy" I FELT THAT. Like you put it into words.

I personally have avoided JLA a lot in the past because I'm not a huge fan of paranormal romance (most times) and the one series I've heard about was the "Lux" series and I seriously noped so hard when I found out what it was about.... but this one is full fantasy so it was easier for me to pick up :D

I've read this thriller by her Don't Look Back, and I liked it a lot. After that I gave a shot to the Lux series, I read the first book and at the time I read it I was in a mood. It was amateurish but it made me nostalgic so I enjoyed it, but the second book I just couldn't. Also the 0.5 novella that I read after the first book was basically the first book so no..

But I plan on reading more of her stuff. At end of Flesh and fire was a part about some of her other book, and it has fae and a prince that is/was evil *shrugs* and it gave me major Cruel Prince vibes. Some reviews weren't so good for that, but I'm intrigued.

@Angie She started remembering, and getting to her brother is her goal so we'll definitely get more answers for that puzzle. Hmm, I would be intrigued to at least see the game :D
