There's a children's fiction book I read probably five to six years ago. It starts with two friends (one male, one female) on a picnic who received a message with instructions from their future selves (sent back in time). I don't remember the middle, but in the end, earth has some kind of fog that engulfs the entirety of the world and there are these white beings that can kill people, which are made of the fog. The beings are earth's antibodies and humans are the virus that are finally being eradicated. In the end, they don't manage to stop the antibodies, but they decide that they need to send a message back in time to their past selves with better instructions on how to save the world. What's the name of this book? I'm desperate to find it.
