SOLVED. Girl in a tree house hiding after she leaves a doll in the window of house next door... [s]

Girl in tree house leaves a doll for a new girl living next door. She leaves it on the window sill(?). The girl who leaves the doll ends up hiding in the tree house from the girl she left the doll for.....(Sorry really sketchy on the details).
This new girl or neighbor is somewhat snotty at first which is why the girl hides after leaving the doll. I read the book in "79 or "80'ish time frame. At the time I was volunteering in the library and shelved books.....I remember reading Marilyn Sachs and stories of Katie John and I'm thinking the book came from the shelving area of S (for Sachs) but I could be way off on this. At any rate, have searched and searched with no luck. Anybody got any ideas?
