message 1: by Rylan (new)

Rylan In the beginning Halt, Will, and Horace are tracking Tennyson. Tennyson is running a cult that takes peoples money. Halt is shot by a poisoned crossbow. Will takes a healer to Halt and they have to go and capture the assassin. They get the cure for Halt and defeat Tennyson.

This book was almost pure filler plots. There were many problems that were solved quickly. It was problem after problem, solution after solution. For instance, when Halt is shot in the dead woods and falls over. Turns out he's alive. But wait! Now he's poisoned! Never mind it's okay he's getting better. Nope! That's a symptom of how much worse it's getting. And so on. The important sections were at the very end. Defeating Tennyson only took three chapters. There were fifty-two. Still, the book was descriptive enough that I could easily picture an incredibly detailed scene. Like the valley they camp while Will gets Malcolm. Or the caves Tennyson is hiding in. The characters were smart and had interesting solutions to these problems. My final complaint is John changes his characters. Horace starts verbally teasing Halt when it's usually vice versa. Horace is supposed to be the dumb one! I do not recommend this series unless it's the last possible book you could have read.
