Lai | 2 comments I read this book about 9 years ago. Here are the “facts” that I remember : a young girl (AA/ Native American) consistently moving from one place to another with her Native American mother in the 70s/80s. Something happens to the mother and the two (or just the girl, can’t quite remember) ends up living on the reservation with the mother family. The girl struggles with her mixed heritage because she’s bullied by other children about it. I vaguely remember the cover having a yellow block with a background

Rachael Tilton | 4 comments Could it be The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver? That book involves a girl and her NA daughter named Turtle.

Cynthia, what's the genre (which we need to add to the header/topic title) - e.g., fiction or nonfiction; for kids, teens or adults?

Update: What does "AA" in message #1 means (e.g., African American aboriginal)?
