H.D. Fortuna (hdfortuna) | 3 comments Hello everyone!
I'm a new writer and I recently published my first book in the paranormal romance genre. Twitter hasn't been the greatest in terms of valuable exchanges between writers, so I'm hoping to find a more supportive community here :)

Please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong at this point! Because I'd like to take this opportunity to ask if anyone would like to read and review my book, Primal Allure? Feel free to PM me if interested. See the blurb below:

In a rural town nestled in the hills of northern Michigan, Vivienne Ward is about to find her quiet life turned upside down. The appearance of a mysteriously alluring man sparks not only her desire, but a chain of events that will lift the veil from a world she never imagined could exist.

But this is no fairy tale, and the dangers are very real, especially when the killing starts.

---

Achak is a werewolf, his body host to the spirit of a beast with a temperament and will all his own. The wolf has been his only companion for over a hundred years; they are partners, surviving in the wilderness by sharing control as they shift forms. But everything changes when they cross paths with Vivienne. Achak and the wolf struggle to master their attraction to this delectable beauty, an unprecedented temptation that will challenge their partnership. They must also hide their true nature from her, lest she take them for a monster.

But something far more sinister has also been drawn to this little town- intimidating even a werewolf. Achak and his wolf might be the only ones capable of stopping it.

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 156 comments Hi, is this the first in a series? It sounds interesting to me, but I don't do well with reading series' one book release at a time.

Also, re twitter, there is a thriving author community there so I'm surprised that you have not experienced good things there. I'm not an author (far from it!) and I don't engage on twitter at all, but I do follow a lot of authors and watch a lot of the conversations that crop up, a wide range of different ones across various genres and certainly romancelandia is the one space that I as an outsider see as being much more active and supportive of each other than other genres. But, I appreciate that I'm an outsider looking in.

H.D. Fortuna (hdfortuna) | 3 comments It is the first in the series, but each book acts as a standalone, focusing on a different couple. There is an overall plot, but i don't want there to be an explicit need to read every book to follow the big picture.

Book 1 is a gentle introduction into the world, with the MCs either completely oblivious to the existence of magic or largely unfamiliar with the wide scope of it, in the werewolf's case.

In re to twitter, I have a decent following of around 600, but other than the occasional like or RT, nobody seems interested in any kind of exchange or conversation outside of what you can do to give their book more visibility, namely RT. *shrug* i dunno, maybe I just don't have the 'right' following.

But thank you for your feedback!

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 156 comments You're welcome. I'll add this to my tbr.

I'm sorry that has been your experience over there. I 'watch' a very diverse range that include both indie and trad authors that also speak a lot on socio-political issues as well as writing in general and romance specifically so I don't know if that has something to do with it? and again, I'm not in the know so to speak and also of course, there are so many out there.

Have you considered Facebook? I'm a member of a few groups there too and again, there is a fair bit of cross promotion between some of them.

Good luck 😊.

I've started dabbling into facebook groups, yes, though at the moment I'm mostly lurking, seeing what other people are doing before I try anything haha
