I believe it was from multiple authors, and it wasn't a retelling of common fables--they were all original stories.

I read this story in a children's anthology when I was a kid, about 12 or so years ago (2008ish).
*SPOILERS*
It was a short story with a little girl (or boy?) protagonist who is going to bed one night but somehow she meets a tiger. I think the tiger might have been a stuffed animal that came to life, or it was under her bed.
At first she's afraid of it but then she talks to it and discovers the tiger loves to run. The tiger brags that he can run the fastest in the world, so the little girl asks him to prove it and he says "get on my back and I'll show you."
So she jumps on his back and he runs all over the city and then all over the globe and then he runs so fast he runs through time. I can't remember if they go to yesterday or tomorrow, but eventually the little girl gets worried about her family so the tiger takes her back and she goes to bed.
I haven't had any luck typing what I remember into google, but I know it was a short story in a children's anthology, although I can't remember any of the other works in the anthology. Any leads would be appreciated!
