SOLVED. Vampire horror story narrator visits a country whose royal family is a related to him. There, he learns of the king's death and also learns that he and the prince are the only blood of the king living.

The narrator visits a country whose royal family is a related to him. There, he learns of the king's death and also learns that he and the prince are the only blood of the king living. The minister takes them down to a dungeon where they meet a horrible creature locked up. It turns out to be there ancestor (lucy?) who had once made deals with nefarious powers in exchange for power. Then the king's body is dangled in the dungeon and the creature eats it(part of the whole powers deal). The prince starts screaming ,horrified. He has to be carried away by a few men. The minister then looks at the narrator and tells him that if the prince dies ( his condition had worsened after learning his future fate), he(narrator) will be the successor. (This story was part of a collection of horror stories in one book that I read in 2009.) Cover image had a vampire grinning with blood trickling down his fangs. Language was English.
