Hi read this book a few years back . H returns to a town as a cop or a marshall. The heroine is a friend's wife in the opening scene H sees the h from afar at the funeral. . Hero disperses all and consoles h. H and h husband were friends but lost touch (not too sure about this part), I think H and h have sex or start to on the day of the funeral.. Would appreciate the help it is driving me nuts. There arent all that many books where H and h make love on the day h husband dies? I think. TIA. Although the part about h house being attacked by a mob probably throwing stones at the house.was from some other book which I had mixed up with this one.

What was her husband's job?
Genre is contemporary romance . I don't recall what her husband did for a living. I vaguely recall the H and husband were friends but drifted. The H has just been posted to the town and in the opening scene he sees from afar the funeral at that point ppl in town down don't know he is the new mayor/cop appointed to the town.

"Hi I read this book a couple years back. This guy is appointed as sheriff or investigator or mayor to the town from where he belonged. He returns to town and sees the heroine standing from afar. The science is of her husband’s funeral. He later goes to the home to offer condolences to her. As her husband was a friend he had fallen out with it. While he is there there is some sort of mob outside to scare the heroine and he comes forward with information that he is the new sheriff/mayor. Apparently the friend had fallen into drug trafficking and I vaguely recall cars or some car repair shop/ garages were being used to hide out circulate the drugs. It’s been bugging me for months would appreciate help."

Ok. I will add the header once have access to laptop. I read 3-4 years back but book I think was around 10 years old a contempt fiction.
I remember they either kissed or made love when he goes to h's home after the funeral.. The H does not approach the h at the funeral he just observes from afar her in black attending funeral.. People of the town are not aware as he has just come to town to take charge.
