ABANDONED. YA novel. Dad was inventing locomotives. She got kidnapped. Guy saves her on horse.

Please help! I can’t remember a book from my teens about a girl in the 17-1800s who’s father was trying to creat locomotives. She was set to marry one man who she met at a party but preferred another but didn’t know until the end of the book. I’m sure she was kidnapped as well and he got to her and they rode through town on his horse (her riding backwards facing him) as everyone gathered to celebrate the first train. I can’t remember anything else but it’s driving me insane! Thanks in advance!
