SOLVED. Picture book read last year; possibly published in the late 90's or early 00's, a cat wanders away from home and finds a bigger cat that is scary

I used this book for a storytime last year and now I can't find it. It is a little spooky for a preschool crowd but it is a picture book. Kids loved listening to it. I think the owner of the small cat is a young boy. I think the smaller cat is ginger colored and the bigger cat is black. The small cat wanders away from home at nighttime and is scared by different things. The small cat gets stuck in a tree and in the tree a big "monster" is scaring the small cat. It isn't a monster though it's another cat that is bigger but friendly and it helps get the smaller cat back to its owner.
