Shōgun question

Given that this novel is historical fiction, the fact it was written in 1975 does not matter. It is not like, say _The Last of the Mohicans_ or _The Catcher in the Rye_, where the style of the English is outmoded or full of decade-specific slang or jargon (such as landlines and faxes). The writing is modern, and appropriate, and never feels dated. That's like saying you wouldn't visit the Eiffel Tower because it was built in the 1800s. I've read over 1000 books and this is in my top 25. Ignore the published date, it is well worth the read.
