YA, scene with ordering onion rings that are not even served in this restaurant

I remember one particular scene. A boy and a girl go on their first date to a restaurant. The girl says that there must serve onion rings there, either way, she won't go out with a boy. So he tells her that onion rings there are the best in the world. He knows this restaurant, he knows they do not serve onion rings there. But he lies so the girl agrees to go with him.
He tells a waiter to say they are out of onion rings. The waiter does that, but the girl gets that something is wrong and figures out this is all the lie.
Book for sure has a happy ending, boy and girl become a couple. This must be quite a new book, no older than 5 years i guess. Typical YA.
