SOLVED. Middle grade/Children - About a black kitten trying to find a home but it's difficult. [s]

The black kitten finds it very hard to find a home cause no one wants a "black cat", the setting is kinda old i remember the kitten sitting infront of a warm fire place at some point, read this in 2013 was probably released somewhere between the 80s-2010.
((spoiler?)) the cat might've accidentally played into some superstitions? At some point was loved then kicked out? In the fireplace scene the family def had a daughter (maybe also a son)
