"You are your only limit!"
The Most Powerful Woman in the Room Is You: Command an Audience and Sell Your Way to Success is my weekend read! What are you reading this weekend? 📚
Sorry Judy this isn't meant as spam and I am certainly not selling anything or have any external links. This is a challenge that I am doing to read 12 books in 90 days and post about the results. This has been a difficult period for many and with so many locations going back into lockdown I thought it would be nice to organise a little community reading challenge on Goodreads.
Here is the list so far: #1. Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance
Key Takeaways: Practice and hard work is the key to success. Beware of self-deception due to unconscious bias.
#2. No Excuses!: The Power of Self-Discipline
Key Takeaways: The importance of taking personal responsibility and applying self-discipline in life. I rather like the idea of creating the 'disaster report' when facing up to fears.
#3. The Buddha and the Badass: The Secret Spiritual Art of Succeeding at Work
Key Takeaways: This book just had so many potential takeaways that it was hard to really nail it down to just one! There are some great scientific studies presented in this book that show in life how we can be bound by our own constraints. When we become aware of this we can further our growth, which leads to goals. Goals should always be growth rather than success based!
#4. Mini Habits: Smaller Habits, Bigger Results
Key Takeaways: How will power (self-discipline) and not motivation drive us towards our goals. It's the smaller habits that can be the most important to form.
#5. Stretch: Unlock the Power of Less - and Achieve More Than You Ever Imagined
Key Takeaways: A great reminder that sometimes less is really more and 'chasing' does not get us ahead. I will be setting time limits/time frames and instead of hunting out new resources I plan to work with what ever I have got and stick to my own path - not get distracted by what others have/have done. Creativity is key.
6. Brian Tracy's Eat That Frog!
Key Takeaway: Defeating procrastination by focusing on values, planning time and complete the hardest most important tasks first thing in the morning - which leads in to another excellent book that I have recently read the 5am Club
" the power of now" key takeaways: learn to take control of your thoughts. fear and ego are distractors for peace and calm as I practice these strategies I am becoming more happier.
Hi Diane, it's great isn't it when you start to apply what you read and start to see real results. The Power of Now is an amazing book!
yes many books are helpful going to start reading " the most powerful woman in the room thx for the suggestion
You are welcome, I am a Goodreads Help Ambassador and it was kindly gifted to me for my volunteering and support I give to Goodreads members. It is a rather inspirational book, do let me know what you think of it Diane.
My apologies! It just sounded so spammy when I looked at it. I guess because right now I’m reading for entertainment and to escape from reality and I just thought this group was about Reese’s books and books like them ! My bad and sincere apologies!!!
Hi Judy, no worries, but this book club did inspire the challenge after reading Fair Play: A Game-Changing Solution for When You Have Too Much to Do. Reese's Book Club x Hello Sunshine has featured some really empowering non-fiction reads. It's not just fictional books discussed here. Similar to you Judy I am also reading to escape this reality we are in at the moment.
Great list! I haven't read any except the Power of Now which is one of my all-time favorites. Will check those out, thanks!
Thanks Carole. Let me know what you think of the other books. Do you have one in particular that you would like to read?
I am currently reading The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. How our habits good and bad compound in our life and if we change small things they can lead to changes that compound over our lifetime.
#7. The Most Powerful Woman in the Room Is You: Command an Audience and Sell Your Way to SuccessKey Takeaway: I have read a lot of self-development books this year and this book covers a lot of similar themes, however something I will be applying is the 'Strike Method' in order to grab the attention of the audience when I am public speaking.
I have been really into self help, anything really, once I began my road to recovery over a year ago!! A few authors I enjoy are Gabrielle Bernstein, Sadie Robertson, and Rachel Hollis. They have helped me so much In my personal development journey. I appreciate this challenge and although I am not a fast reader, I will be saving the list you read so that I can look further into the ones you’ve recommended. Thank you!!

Hi Jamie, everyone reads to their own timeframe. Even if you only read 3 books in 3 months that is still an achievement, especially if you start to apply the key points.
Judy wrote: "Ps .... Trisha I’ve taken off my spam police hat and passed it on to you 🤣🤣🤣"Hahahaha. The spam is now back in the tin.

Hi Trisha,I am just connecting to this challenge as you are wrapping up! Your list of books is intriguing and has me motivated to do some of my own work.
