Team Captivating Cryptic Conquerors - report your reads
Marie Claude, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.Take care of your son.
We'll cover you on the toppler.
Gail, Top It Off 20 needs to be changed to tack it on 20,on the spreadsheet. I think I originally gave you the wrong title when this all started, sorry again ;-)
What is the title of the novel, Berit? I have it as Takedown Twenty. Can you double check that your autocorrect doesn't change it, because that was the difficulty last time.
There is no novel in the database called tack it on 20. Please copy the title exactly from the book - thanks. :-)
Actually, now I think of it, on this site you just post the link without any coding and it works as a link. You copy and paste the URL of the page you are linking. Like this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...The only reason you might want to use coding is if you want to give it a name, like this: Team C Toppler Spreadsheet
Lol, Berit, still everything under control? ;)And I think you have apologized enough for one Toppler, now. :D
Berit, I'm completely confused. On the spreadsheet, I have it as Takedown Twenty. You originally told me the wrong title and I searched for the Twentieth Stephanie Plum book and discovered it was Takedown Twenty and asked if that was what you meant and you said yes. So I put that in the spreadsheet. There is no Top It Off Twenty, either on the Goodreads database or on the spreadsheet. Maybe I'm being dense here, but I can't understand what you are telling me. Maybe someone else can translate because I am really confused.
Gail everything's fine on the spreadsheet sorry for the confusion that was my own human error. You are doing amazing just ignore me.
Sorry, Berit, I know it's not your fault, and you don't need to apologise, but I just don't understand the way you write. It's me, not you - maybe someone can help me please.
Yes do not change anything :-) I was wrong, I can't keep track of these books names. I hardly ever even know the name of the book I'm reading to be honest ;-)
Lol, thanks for clarifying. Berit, I think you and I just have very different ways of communicating - I am not good at understanding language that is not specific. When you said 'Take Down 20, that was human error' I had no idea if you meant that Takedown 20 was the error and that it should be Top it off 20, or vice versa. And I had no idea if you meant it was my human error or your human error! So that is why I was confused and couldn't understand what you were saying. If you'd made it more specific and said 'Ignore my last post - I made an error. I meant Takedown 20 is the right title and it's right on the spreadsheet' then it would have made sense.
I think next Toppler I will just make the spreadsheet and then give it to someone who is better at understanding posts than I am to fill in the books read. :-)
Sorry Gail, I'm used to communicating with teenagers, and with them the less words the better. I also have a tendency to say a lot of things and yet say nothing ;-) you are doing a great job, hang in there :-)
You can still be specific with few words, Berit. You just have to choose the right words to convey the message and stop it being ambiguous.
It's really easy to do these posts in few words. You just say:
I've read [title of book] by [author] for [category] [coordinate]
And you read your post before you post it to make sure it's accurate.
That is how everyone else is doing it. I need you to do it like this, otherwise I can't do the spreadsheet job.
If this is not possible, and if there is someone else on the team who is able to understand your posts better than I can, please can they take over the spreadsheet. I can add someone to the spreadsheet so they can also edit it, if they give me their gmail address. Thanks.
Gail, I just went to Berit's profile page and looked at her books read tab and currently reading books section, which gives us all her titles. No more guessing!
Ah, okay, thanks Connie. In that case Berit can copy and paste the books from her profile into a post. And now it's just the categories that need to be clear.
Berit wrote: "Got it! Was my last post, okay?"Your last reporting post? Yes, it was better, but you got the coordinate a bit wrong - it was 20, not 18.
Gail, I'll try to check her posts for accuracy as a back-up if I am online when she posts. Together we will work this out.
I think I will wait till the end of the Toppler to add things to the spreadsheet, because all this clarifying does end up taking a very long time each day and I'm exhausted by the end of it, and I haven't even finished reading any books yet.
Gail, we are good with any system that works for you. I know you need a break from this. Go and enjoy your books! : )((((Big Hug))))
I know what I did wrong, the book fit both category 18 and 20, I second Connie take a break especially for me ;-)this is supposed to be fun, so have fun and read. I think when it comes down to it and it really doesn't matter if the spreadsheet is right or not. At least that is my opinion :-)
Yes, I know you think it doesn't matter, Berit, and so you are treating it all as if it doesn't matter, and that's why it's frustrating to me, because I'm putting time and effort into it. And to me there's no point playing a game if you're not trying to score it properly. If you're just writing any old thing in for a laugh then there's no point having rules and a score board. So, yes, I want to do it right and enter the books correctly - to me that is what makes it fun.
Berit, the thing is, you are coming across as rude. I'm telling you I'm finding this really tiring and time-consuming trying to understand what you are typing, and you are posting sorry with great big smiley faces and telling me what great fun you are finding it. You say sorry one minute and then are laughing the next. You're acting like it doesn't matter that I'm finding it tiring, or that it's taking me ages to try to figure out what you're saying. I understand that it might not occur to you to consider my feelings or my time, but from my perspective, it feels really disrepectful. Your fun shouldn't be at someone else's expense.
You took what I said completely wrong. How I feel is it is a game, it is fun, and I don't feel like I've just been saying anything to get a laugh. If anything I feel really bad.
Berit, I thought of something. Are you using voice to text? That's the only thing I can think of to explain how what you intend to post gets so distorted, and why you don't read it before posting. And if so, are you able to type instead?
And you misinterpreted me. I wasn't saying you were saying things to get a laugh. I was using 'you' generically, meaning 'one' - saying that if one was to type any old thing into the spreadsheet, just for a laugh (ie. for shit and giggles), rather than try to get it right, then it wouldn't mean anything.
Let's just move past this, please. I will read and I will post to my best ability. I will triple check all post in this thread, I promise. Let's just drop it for now, please.
You know, I'm simply telling you how it feels and why I'm frustrated, because you seemed to have no idea. I thought it might help our communication. I have no wish to prolong anything. You are of course free to take or leave what I said. You have no obligation to try to understand my posts. I wish I were in the same position with you! :-P
Gail I do understand you are very frustrated with me. All I can do however is my best. That is what I intend to do.
Okay, things need to lighten up a bit in this thread. Gail, all you really need for the spreadsheet is who read the book and what category it fits in. Period. Yes, it would be nice to have a title and author, but as long as the reader is confident the book fits the category, it's a go.
Berit is restricted to the app at the moment, and we have to live with it. The app sucks in my opinion and is not the most forgiving when typing. We have to make allowances.
So, let all the frustration go and just have fun.
You know what we all need? Ducklings.
Everyone focus on their fuzzy little feathers, their webby little feet and their ridiculously sized beak. Good.
Ducklings fix everything.
