Lanelle | 4064 comments Great, Stephanie. Thanks for doing this for us.

I think we need one more person to be what I'm tentatively calling the 'taskmaster' or organizer. Someone in Team D described this position as the leader that "directs the activity, so we don't trip all over each other and inadvertently duplicate work. Like a coach, the leader makes sure all the bases are covered."

Does anyone think this taskmaster position is necessary, or does everyone think we're good to go?

I think we are good to go. Maybe, once the rules are stated, we will have a better feel of what we need?

Obviously not understanding each other here lol
That's the role that I thought Stephanie was filling :)

Stephanie So I will be the positive vibe person (cheerleader) and go to jaxnsmom if our group has questions and make sure we all have tasks :-) Lynn will take charge of the spreadsheet unless anyone else wants the job, right Lynn? If there ends up being more to it all, we shall go from there :-) sound good, everyone?

Ok, ready? Break ;-)

Waiting is the hardest part :)

That's just reminded me, has everyone checked in?

message 62: by Lynn (last edited Jan 21, 2015 03:59AM) (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments From my quick check, we are still waiting for Sarah Jigz to check in (I will send her a quick message if her profile allows)

Edit:
Ignore me - I double checked and we've got everyone checked in :)

message 63: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4064 comments Welcome, Jessica.

message 64: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Hi Team! Hope everyone is having a great day! I'm going to set up a thread for reporting what we read for the toppler :-) I'm getting antsy waiting for the rules and can't wait to start gophering!!

message 65: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments Hi Jessica! Welcome!

message 66: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Hi all!! Sounds like toppler info will be announced tomorrow (Friday):) as soon as I see it I will post it on our reporting thread! Unless one of ya'll sees it first then feel free to post it :-)

message 67: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments Can you post it in this thread too please ( think I'd find the info more useful in the discussion thread ) by editing your first post?

I would ask of everyone that we keep the reporting thread to exactly that. Any questions / chatting etc should be kept to here. It makes it easier for me to keep track of everything.

I am going away this weekend. The place I'm staying does have WiFi so I will check in but obviously I will be busy for most of it.

Stephanie Some edits were just done to jmom's toppler thread. I will have to update our thread later as I am not home.

EDIT: There was a task added :-)

message 72: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Hello. Ooh I'm looking forward to this. I've found a fair few books that could fit many of those.

I just want to let you know I'm thinking of reading 2 books for defo and may be able to get a third in depending on how it goes in the toppler week.

message 73: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2118 comments Oooh, so many lovely choices! Haven't had time to gopher yet.

message 74: by Stephanie (last edited Jan 24, 2015 11:59AM) (new)

Stephanie These are the categories that I have books on hand for:

Read a book with a human head
Read a book with a pair of eyes
Collecting comic books – Read a book that’s part of a series
Reading – Read an author that’s new to you
June and Ward Cleaver – Read a post-apocalyptic book
Mickey and Minnie Mouse - Read a book where an animal is a main character
Claire and Jamie Fraser (Outlander) – Read a book with time travelling, or where the perspective changes between the present and the past
Shaggy and Scooby Doo – Read a murder mystery
Hazel Grace and Augustus- Read a tear jerker

I will commit to at least 2. I may be able to read 3/4. (I may give audiobooks another chance)

message 75: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I haven't given much looj at my books or the tasks yet but I have an abundance of fantasy sci fi and horror books for certain

message 76: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I would like to not have to read horror, myself. I'm pretty much a wuss when it comes to horror movies and books :( they scare me a bit, lol!

message 77: by Kazen (new)

Kazen It looks like I'll be able to fit any of my reading into some category or other - time to hold some books at the library! Bwahahahaha....

message 78: by Stephanie (last edited Jan 24, 2015 06:50AM) (new)

Stephanie Good morning team! The points were added! I have updated post #1 in this thread and our reporting thread.

I am trying to figure out how to bold parts of it but when I do, it either bolds everything or nothing :-(

Edit: I have edited post one to make it a little easier to read, I hope. Thank you thank you to Rusalka for showing me the scoop with html :-)

message 79: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Jan 24, 2015 06:29AM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19228 comments Just put < b> and < /b> around the bits you want to bold Stephanie. Remove the spaces. Make sure you have a start = < b> and a finish = < /b> otherwise it bolds everything

In the end it should look something like this

< b>this< /b>

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19228 comments No worries at all. I stuff it up all the time, and frequently Lexx walks into me acting like that gif. He knows to back away slowly out the door.

Benefit is, once you work it out, you can boast you know html ;) No one needs to know it's just bolding, italics and strikethroughs.

Annette Olsen | 205 comments So Stephanie.... Any ideas on how to handle reading assignments... or strategy. This is going to be fun!

Stephanie Annette wrote: "So Stephanie.... Any ideas on how to handle reading assignments... or strategy. This is going to be fun!"

Maybe, our team could post what section they have books for/willing to read? That may help Lynn with a spreadsheet to keep track of who is reading what.
EDIT****** and how many books are we each committing to.
I think we should try to get the bonus points first then work on the other categories? I am open to ideas for strategizing :-)

message 84: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I posted the link for questions and rulings in post #1 of this thread so it would be easier to find, if needed :-)

That's awesome, Camilla! How many total books are you committing to reading?

message 88: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2118 comments Stephanie wrote: "That's awesome, Camilla! How many total books are you committing to reading?"

Can't commit to more than two books at the moment, although I usually end up reading a few more. The next week would have suited me better.

message 89: by Dominique (new)

Dominique | 1126 comments I will commit to 2, I juat have to choose the categories.

message 90: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4064 comments The next week would have suited me better as well, Camilla. My daughter's due date is February 10th, right in the middle of the Toppler. Holding a new grandson might distract me from reading :)

message 91: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Annette
Cherie
Kazen
Lanelle
Lynn
Travis
Roz
Jessica

Do ya'll know how many books you are committing to? I know Lynn is away this weekend, but trying to make sure we hear from everyone :-)

message 92: by Lynn (last edited Jan 24, 2015 02:33PM) (new)

Lynn | 2987 comments I am indeed away, I can check in don't but have any time to put anything together at the moment :)

I will be committing to 5 books but there's a possibility I might do more.

message 93: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Hi Stephanie! Not sure how many books I'll be doing just yet - at least two, I think. I'm mad busy this weekend so I'll only be able to gofer next week. Also, I depend entirely on my e-library and the hold system there so I won't be able to give any solid details about categories and things until right before the Toppler. I hope that doesn't mess up things too much!

message 94: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thanks, gals! I know it is early before the toppler;) just want to make sure we have everyone.

message 95: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4561 comments I can probably do 2.

message 96: by Travis (new)

Roz | 4561 comments I have:

Book set on an island (Australia) Cocaine Blues
Book with a pair of shoes Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
Book with a torso The Extra Large Medium

message 98: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Elizabeth | 95 comments I can do at least two. :)

message 99: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Yay! Thanks, Dominique (from earlier today), Roz, Travis and Jessica :-)

message 100: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Elizabeth | 95 comments If it's okay with everyone else, may I take the "Shooting" category with the book Kill Shot? I think it would be fun to do "Clubbing" too if someone would like to assign me a book from their TBR :)
