Ask the rep to exchange for a gift card and see how that goes. I know Cadiva just did that.

I'll give it a try.

M'rella (mrella) | 799 comments I have a Kindle question I was not able to solve looking through all the FAQs and help on Amazon. Maybe I missed something, I don't know.

Some time ago I received the same book from 2 different friends (got them almost simultaneously). I can't accept the second book because it's already in my library. How do I exchange it for something else?

I think there's an option below the "Accept the Gift" button to exchange with gift card?

message 155: by M'rella (new)

M'rella (mrella) | 799 comments @Ami

There is no such option if you already own the book.

I guess then maybe contacting Amazon customer service is the way to go 😄

I've had this happen to me multiple times and it's an easy fix with customer service.

Marzipop (poplora) | 17 comments so 5 days ago I messaged here about my person having an outdated wish list and gone from Goodreads for a month. I asked them anonymously about it on elfster but they never responded other than putting a few new books on the list that I think they've read already judging by their goodreads. they also didn't give me an email to gift either... I'm not sure what to do lol

Yeah, my person seems to be MIA too. Let's see if Heather can help us out

The email is listed under "more info" under their address on their elfster page. I'll look into the rest!

Could you message me with your elfster name?

Malorie (Firereader) (firereader2316) | 26 comments I don't know that this is a true technical question but how do you catch sales on books requested? My secret santa caught a book on my list that I've never seen on sale for a little over $1 and I couldn't help but cheer for them and wonder how they did it. Any ideas?

Not sure about your specific SS, but I make an Amazon wishlist with all the books I want and sort it by price almost every day this time of year because there are crazy sales. I made a separate wishlist for my giftee and I have a another one for random gifts where I put the ones I see most requested in the elfster wishlists.

Does amazon tell you if its on sale? I have a million lists of books on amazon and i never get messages about them going on sale.

I got it solved myself thank you though!

message 168: by Tam (new)

Tam (cdn_tam) For those of us with Amazon problems... aka you can't gift or receive, you can look at other pubs besides Smashwords. Evernight has lots of m/f and m/m, Mischief Corner Books, Riptide, DSP, Pride Publ, JMS Books, all have gifting or g/c options I believe. You can always send a pdf book to your kindle and read it that way.

No, it doesn't notify you. I manually go into my amazon wishlist and sort by price. If one of your books on the wishlist is on sale and moves to the top of the list when sorted by lowest price first, It will tell you what the price dropped from when you originally put it on your wish list by percentage. That's how I know it's on sale.

I think that Bookbub will email you if a book on your list is on sale, but it was too much for me to keep up with another list so I just prefer to sort my amazon list manually.

I didn't think publishers had gifting, so that's awesome to know!

Tam (cdn_tam) Some just offer g/c but that would be the same as Amazon for those of outside of .com.

Exactly!
I talked to Amazon IN people after I posted. They said that US GCs can be redeemed at US website only as redeeming it on the IN website is essentially converting Dollars into Rupees which is prohibited by the government. I'll try with Amazon US tomorrow, but I'm not much hopeful about it.

I can't find the person who left- maybe that one? Someone else suggested it could be someone different. I'm going to message everyone after Thanksgiving to check in and see who hasn't gotten anything yet.

Carmen (tsubakichan) | 91 comments Maybe this will help people having problems accepting/gifting US gifts/books. I'm from Spain, even though Goodreads places me in he US (that's a loooog story), and I have a US Amazon account with a US address, BUT I use a Spanish credit (that's the important part) card and "self gift card" for purchases. I don't usually have any problem receiving and gifting, especially if I use the redeem gift card option (I basically reload a gift card everytime I want to buy an ebook) but I also use a free VPN to kinda reinforce the "I'm in the US". Untill now it's been working. I use Windscribe if anyone is interested, they have a free account option that is usually enough for this :)

LOL that was looooong, but hope it helps.

Diana Hudac (ladyanaid) If you go to their profile on Goodreads, under their profile picture you have 3 option: friend, follow and message. (At least that how I see it on my phone.)

Do you want to stay anonymous? You can use Elfster for that. Or Heather K can be your spokesperson.
